⛽️ TEAM NEWS — FUEL LIGHT STARTS AGAIN

With fuel getting closer and closer to £2 a litre, our coaches are having to put £20 in just to get to training! However this isn't even turning the fuel light off anymore, it just stays there laughing at them. 👀

It has come to the point we're not even asking parents “Can you make Saturday?” anymore.

It's now:

“Can you take four players… and what's your credit rating?” 💰💰

Dumbarton United have therefore updated the official Away Day Classification System:

Alexandria — Road trip.
Paisley — Long haul.
Greenock — European football.
Toryglen — Remortgage the house.

We used to give parents directions to away grounds. Now it's postcode, estimated mileage, current fuel price and a link to Citizens Advice.

If fuel reaches £2, anyone spotted driving around Dumbarton will be investigated immediately.

Nobody round here has that kind of disposable income.

We've also been forced into updating the signing policy:

⛽ Parent with a fuel card: NO TRIAL REQUIRED - STRAIGHT INTO THE STARTING XI

A big one for our 2014s this weekend as they play their first ever match in the Scottish Cup! 🟡⚫

The boys are absolutely buzzing for it as we travel away to face UTD Sports Yellows in the First Round.

A new competition, a new experience and hopefully the start of a few special memories for this group. 💛

🏆 PLAYER OF THE MONTH — MICHAEL CALDWELL 🏆

What a start to the season Michael has had. June winner. August winner. Now Vice Captain. 👏🟡⚫

Michael has been an absolute rock at the back — strong in the tackle, composed on the ball and consistently putting in top performances for the team.

His attitude and leadership have been just as impressive, and being named Vice Captain is thoroughly deserved.

Two Player of the Month awards already… setting the standards! 💪

⚽ MATCH REVIEW | DUMBARTON UNITED 2014s 🟡⚫

Two really enjoyable games and two strong performances from the boys.

Saturday vs Ardgowan Thistle Gold

Ardgowan played some excellent football and came flying out at the start of both halves, putting us firmly on the back foot.

The hard work the boys have put in during pre-season really showed, though. We stayed in the game, kept working and finished both halves strongly, with some late goals making the difference.

🔥 Max Grumoli was on fire throughout and fully deserved his Man of the Match award.

A special mention as well to Ardgowan's number 7, who scored an unbelievable hat-trick, including an absolutely superb bicycle kick. 👏⚽

Wednesday vs Houston United

Another really good test against a Houston side who played some lovely football.

While the goals at the other end will grab attention, Robbie Ramsay was every bit as important, pulling off some wonderful saves at key moments. 🧤👏

Again, our fitness and determination showed towards the end of both halves. Scoring late in each half is becoming a real strength of this team and hopefully something we can continue to build on.

Two good games, plenty of positives and still plenty for us to work on.
