Today we held the DW Jamieson Open Triples competition. The weather wasnt very kind today but that didnt prevent some very competitive bowling taking place.

The winners of the sections were:

Robert Sloan/Alan Brown/Robert Mcbride
Barry Jones/Graeme Sloan/Grant Macleod
Bear Fleming/Allan Roy/Keith Tait
Scott Hardie/Goerge McGaughey/Scott Buchanan

The final was contested tested between team McBride and team Tait with team McBride being victorious.

Best dressed team of the day went to Brian Jollys triples who brought a bit of fun to proceedings.

This afternoon we had 4 of the best representing the Cocos in the DAC senior knock out fours final.

David Prophet, Ivan Hume, Kenny Watters and Alan Brown ran out comfortable winners to take home the trophy 🏆.

Cocos were in DAC champion of champions action this weekend. We were represented by John McCulloch Jnr in the under 30s, Kenny Paton in the singles and in the knock out fours we had John McCulloch, Wullie Stewart, Coley McIntyre and Grant MacLeod.

All three qualified for their finals. John McCulloch Jnr lost out to Shaun McCarry and Kenny Paton lost out to Robert Cavana.

The fours however had a fine victory against Renton BC.

Well done to all the players over the weekend and season.

This afternoon we played the Jim Donald pairs competition. After the qualifying was finished, the last teams standing were David Prophet and Robert Collins against Gordon Wilkie and Nathan Bonner in the final.

The young guns of Wilkie and Bonner earned the victory.

Gordon Wilkie has had a health check for his sore back after carrying his partner all day.

On Wednesday evening our club championship final was contested between John McCulloch Jnr and Kenny Paton. The conditions were a bit dreich to say the least but that didn't stop a thriller of a match from being played.

Kenny raced to 5-0 start then John got a couple of shots back. Kenny then mercilessly marched to a 16-3 lead with John going for an early bath. John regained his composure and set about clawing back the deficit to 17-16 to Kenny. Kenny then leant on his experience to close out the win over the next few ends to secure his 8th club championship down the Castle Road 👏

John has had a great season and sure he has a few championship victories in his future.

🏆 | Ladies Singles

Congratulations to Emma MacLeod of Dumbarton on winning back-to-back Bowls Scotland Ladies Singles titles.

Emma successfully defended the championship with a 21-10 victory over Newton Stewart’s Izzy Graham.
