We are delighted to welcome Benjy Oram to the club.

The athletic centre-back, who has been playing the past few seasons in the Senior league, will be a classy addition to the club.

𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗙𝗘 𝗠𝗨𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝟭 - 𝟭 𝗣𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗬 𝗙𝗖 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗦

A frustrating afternoon for the Reserves as they were forced to settle for a point on the road, despite dominating large spells of the game.

Poundbury started brightly and were the better side in the opening 20 minutes, creating chance after chance and looking unlucky not to have found themselves a few goals to the good. The pressure eventually told as Pound won a penalty, but unfortunately the spot-kick was missed.

Despite continuing to dominate possession and create opportunities, the Ressies somehow went into the break level at 0-0.

Corfe Mullen then stunned Poundbury immediately after the restart, scoring with their first chance of the game. From there, it was almost entirely Poundbury pressure as the Reserves spent the rest of the half chasing the equaliser they thoroughly deserved.

Chances came and went, with Corfe Mullen hanging on as Poundbury struggled to find the finishing touch.

With time running out, 𝘛𝘰𝘣𝘺 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘥 finally found the breakthrough to rescue a point for the Reserves — making up for his earlier penalty miss in the process.

A point on the road is better than nothing, but given the amount of possession, pressure and chances created, this will undoubtedly feel like two points missed out on.

Attention turns to next week where we travel again to Milborne St Andrew FC for our next fixture.

𝗣𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗬 𝗙𝗖 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧𝗦 𝟯 - 𝟬 𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗧 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗙𝗖 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗦

Poundbury Firsts picked up their first win of the season as runaway 3-0 winners against Holt United FC Reserves.

Poundbury started the game brightly, finding plenty of joy in the early stages by getting in behind the full-backs and causing Holt plenty of problems. Poundbury then got their reward when a 𝘖𝘸𝘦𝘯 𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 free-kick was parried by the Holt keeper, which met the head of 𝘑𝘰𝘦𝘭 𝘏𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘵 who did brilliantly to close the keeper down and the ball found its way into the back of the net to put the Pound 1-0 up.

The second goal followed shortly afterwards when Poundbury nicked the ball as Holt attempted to play out from the back. A through-ball was then played to a completely unmarked 𝘖𝘸𝘦𝘯 𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵, who finished coolly one-on-one to double the lead.

Poundbury weren’t finished there. 𝘊𝘢𝘮 𝘊𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘭 played some lovely football down the right before finding the feet of 𝘖𝘸𝘦𝘯 𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 once again. 𝘖𝘸𝘦𝘯 clipped the ball in behind the defence where 𝘖𝘢𝘬𝘭𝘦𝘺 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 was on hand to meet it with a header and guide the ball into the far corner, making it 3-0 at half-time.

The message at half time was to manage the game out and keep a clean sheet, and that’s just what they did.

A composed second-half performance saw Poundbury see the game out and secure their first three points of the season, along with a well-earned clean sheet.

Attention now turns to next week’s home fixture against Sturminster Marshall.

We are excited to announce the signing of Carl Hopkins. Carl brings a wealth of experience to the Pound, having been part of multiple promotion-winning, cup-winning and DPL sides throughout his career, and will be a huge asset for our younger squad to learn from.

𝗣𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗬 𝗙𝗖 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝟳 - 𝟮 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗚𝗘 𝗙𝗖 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗦

Things started far better for the Reserves this week, with the side managing to get through the opening minute without seeing anyone sent off. Progress. Although, there were two self-inflicted sin bins to come later on…

Despite dominating the early stages, the Pound could only find themselves 1-0 up after 𝘛𝘢𝘺 𝘌𝘥𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘴 finished a chance even he couldn’t miss, thanks to some brilliant work from 𝘋𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘯 𝘈𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘯.

The visitors then enjoyed a spell of good play and quickly found an equaliser. It wasn’t level for long, however, with 𝘛𝘢𝘺 bagging his brace to fire Poundbury back into the lead.

With what ended up being a scrappy first half out of the way, the Reserves really came into their own after the break, creating chance after chance. Most of which, admittedly, really should have found the back of the net.

Thankfully, some of those chances didn’t go begging, with centre-back 𝘙𝘰𝘣 𝘛𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘭𝘦𝘺 smashing home a penalty, alongside goals from 𝘑𝘰𝘩𝘯𝘯𝘺 𝘓𝘶𝘧𝘧 and 𝘋𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘯 𝘈𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘯.

Stalbridge would get one back through a nicely worked move, but in the end, the pressure proved too much. Poundbury added two more before the final whistle, with 𝘙𝘰𝘣 grabbing his second and a belated debut goal for 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘯, which went in off the winger’s head.

𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗞𝗜𝗧: Special shoutout to 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘞𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘳 and 𝘌𝘮𝘪𝘳 𝘛𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘰 for their excellent defensive displays, both playing a vital role in the win today.

Poundbury FC Firsts suffered defeat in their first home game of the season.

Poundbury started brightly, knocking the ball around well, and it wasn’t long before 𝘖𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳 𝘊𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘰𝘯 played a lovely weighted through ball to 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘛𝘶𝘳𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥, who calmly rounded the keeper before slotting home to make it 1-0.

Allendale responded by going up a gear, putting Poundbury under pressure with wave after wave of attack. During a Poundbury corner, 𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘯 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭 went down injured and had to leave the field. With Poundbury temporarily down to 10 men, Allendale took full advantage and levelled at 1-1.

The game became very stop-start, with neither side able to build momentum. Allendale then edged in front when a 30-yard free-kick found the top corner, sending them into half-time 2-1 ahead.

Poundbury started the second half brightly once again, and 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘛𝘶𝘳𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 found himself on the scoresheet for a second time. 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 took the ball around an Allendale defender inside the box before calmly slotting past the keeper to make it 2-2.

Disaster then struck. A pass found a Poundbury defender who lost his footing in the long grass, gifting Allendale an open goal and restoring their lead at 3-2.

With nothing to lose, Poundbury pushed forward in search of a late miracle. A fantastic 𝘊𝘢𝘮 𝘊𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘭 cross found 𝘓𝘶𝘬𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘨𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭, who finished brilliantly to make it 3-3 and give Poundbury hope.

Allendale once again found themselves in front when a clearance from a corner fell to their midfielder, who found the bottom corner to make it 4-3.

Allendale then killed the game off in the dying minutes when the referee awarded them a penalty, which they converted to seal a 5-3 victory.

A bitter pill to swallow. Poundbury ultimately weren’t at the races today, but there are plenty of lessons to take from the game as we continue to build. We move forward and go again next weekend, welcoming Holt United Reserves to home soil.

Things couldn’t have started much worse for our new Reserves side on their debut, with captain 𝘉𝘦𝘯 𝘋𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 shown a red card within the first minute and a half.

Longfleet capitalised quickly on Poundbury’s slow start and their man advantage, finding themselves 2-0 up by the 20th minute. A good spell from the Pound just before half-time should’ve seen them claw one back before the break.

The second half started much better, thanks to the addition of 𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘯 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭, with the Reserves continuing their dominance from before the break.

𝘊𝘢𝘮 𝘛𝘢𝘺𝘭𝘰𝘳 scored the first after nice footwork inside the box, cooly slotting past the keeper. 𝘓𝘶𝘪𝘴 𝘉𝘰𝘴𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩 then levelled things up not long after, with a long throw finding the centre-half who had made his way into the opposition box.

All hopes of a second-half comeback were crushed when Longfleet were awarded a late penalty, which they converted.

Despite creating plenty of chances to win the game while playing with just 10 men for 90 minutes, it just wasn’t our day. All attention now turns to next Saturday, with Stalbridge FC visiting home soil for another home fixture.

Poundbury Firsts went into the first game of the season in high spirits following a busy summer of signings.

The game started fairly evenly, with both sides passing the ball well and feeling their way into the new season. After 10 minutes, Poundbury began to find their rhythm, creating plenty of chances through clever play from 𝘖𝘸𝘦𝘯 𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 and 𝘑𝘰𝘦𝘭 𝘏𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘵.

Disaster then struck. A dubiously taken free-kick caught the Poundbury defence off guard, and as their striker latched onto the through-ball, he was clipped by 𝘓𝘦𝘰𝘯 𝘈𝘵𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘦. With 𝘓𝘦𝘰𝘯 the last man, it resulted in a straight red card.

With their tails up, the home side took advantage of the extra man and scored from close range to make it 1-0 at HT.

Poundbury started the second half brightly, continuing to create great chances despite being down to 10 men. Their efforts were rewarded when a lovely through ball from 𝘖𝘸𝘦𝘯 𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 found 𝘑𝘰𝘦𝘭 𝘏𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘵, who rounded the keeper before calmly slotting home to make it 1-1.

Poundbury then rode their luck slightly as the home side enjoyed a spell of well-worked chances, with one being put over the bar from 10 yards out. The home side eventually found the net again from close range after a great save from 𝘉𝘦𝘯 𝘛𝘺𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘭 fell straight to the feet of the attacker, who poked home.

For the final 10 minutes, however, it was 10-man Poundbury applying all the pressure. 𝘛𝘰𝘣𝘺 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘥 began dictating the game with an array of passing into the attackers, who just couldn’t find the finishing touch.

Then in the final minutes, a stray back pass from the home side found the feet of 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘛𝘶𝘳𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥… and we all know how that story ends. You can watch the celebrations for yourself.

With 10 men for the majority of the game, the attitude and determination shown by the lads to keep fighting until the very end will serve us well as the season progresses.

We look forward to a home fixture next weekend where we welcome Allendale FC.
