🖤 Remembering Martin Davies

We were incredibly sad to hear that Martin Davies has passed away.

Martin has been part of Doncaster Airgun Range practically since the day we opened, and over the 10 years became one of those people who simply felt like part of the furniture... although considerably more useful and usually much funnier.

He was kind, funny, quick-witted and always ready to help. Whether you needed a hand, a bit of advice, or simply someone to make you laugh, Martin was rarely far away.

The range genuinely won't feel quite the same without him, and his humour, wit and friendly face will be very much missed by all of us. ❤️

This month, instead of our usual Air Ambulance, Pound in the Pot competition prize money, we'll be donating the money raised towards whichever charity Martin's family chooses in his memory.

And we'd really love to hear your memories of him too. If Martin ever helped you, made you laugh, wound you up, or you simply have a good story about him, pop it in the comments below.
A card will be in the range for those of you who'd like to scribble something.

🎯 We’re so much more than “just” a shooting range…

Yes, there are airguns.
Yes, there are targets.
And yes, there’s occasionally some highly questionable analysis of why that last shot definitely wasn’t the shooter’s fault. 😂

But what really makes Doncaster Airgun Range what it is, is the people. 💜

We’re a community of like-minded folk who enjoy the same sport, whether you’re an experienced shooter chasing that perfect score or still figuring out which end of the pellet goes where. 😉

It’s somewhere to shoot, learn, improve, swap advice, have a laugh and spend time with people who genuinely want to see each other do well.

There’s friendly competition, plenty of encouragement, a fair amount of banter and, most importantly, a really good bunch of people enjoying the sport together.

That’s the bit you can’t measure on a target. 🎯💜

A cracking weekend for Jake at Rounds 5 and 6 of the UKAHFT Nationals.

At Meon Valley on Saturday, Jake shot an impressive 58/60 to take 1st place in Junior, beating Bri in the process and earning himself one of the much-coveted “I Beat Bri” badges. A proper case of the student beating the teacher.

Jake followed that up the very next day at Bisley with another excellent performance, taking 1st place Junior again and making it two wins from two.

Bri managed to restore a little teacherly dignity on Sunday by taking 1st place in Open Class at Bisley. With a five-hour drive home ahead of him, he had to leave before the prize-giving, so Jake stepped up to collect the Open trophy on his behalf.

It may not be the last Open Class trophy Jake collects in the years ahead, although next time there’s a fair chance it’ll have his own name on it.

A brilliant weekend for them both, but especially for Jake. Two shoots, two Junior wins, and an “I Beat Bri” badge to top it all off. 👏🎯

But even a 2 mph wind can move one of the best-performing .177 pellets by around 12 mm at 35 yards.
