Our allotment team have been busy bees recently!

They were delighted to welcome the lovely Culmore Women’s Group last week
Allotment this week.

The group has recently begun its own allotment project in Culmore and came along to see how a more established growing space can support wellbeing, friendship and community.

Our wonderful volunteers once again gave everyone a warm Hive welcome, sharing
stories, gardening ideas, and plenty of encouragement.

A special thank you to Theresa for her delicious homemade Guinness bread, and to Angela, Anna and Jacquie for helping make the visit so enjoyable.

We look forward to a return visit when the group establish their allotment soon.

Team Hive were delighted to welcome visitors from the University of Minnesota to our beautiful allotment yesterday!

Hosted by Far and Wild, the group is taking part in a two-week summer electiveexploring Decolonisation and Ireland.

Their visit focused on non-mainstream voices and regenerative approaches to growing, food and agriculture.

Lorcan from Far and Wild included the Hive allotment as part of the programme, giving our visitors an opportunity to see how this shared space supports learning, wellbeing, connection and sustainable growing.

Jacquie, our Education and Prevention Officer, and volunteers Theresa, Angela and Anna gave the group a really warm welcome and some of Theresa's famous Guinness bread!

Mayor of Derry City & Strabane District, Grace Uí Niallais, is inviting local businesses to support a unique and thought‑provoking charity event taking place this autumn in aid of Hive Cancer Support.

The ‘Dine in the Dark’ evening will be held on Thursday 8th October in the historic Guildhall, Derry, marking World Sight Day 2026. The event aims to raise vital funds while offering participants a meaningful insight into the lived experience of people with sight loss.
