A good reminder to keep saying 'yes'! 💗

This conversation genuinely made me emotional.

When Bob Mortimer admitted he almost turned down Gone Fishing after his heart operation, Paul Whitehouse simply listened as Bob explained how saying one little word – “yes” – had completely changed his life.

I think there’s a lot of truth in what he says. As we get older, it’s so easy to say no. No to meeting up with friends. No to trying something different. No to going out. Before long, your world can become a little bit smaller without you even realising it.

Bob said that agreeing to one fishing trip changed his life. It gave him these wonderful days out with a close friend, led to one of the most loved programmes on television, and, by his own admission, made him happier.

Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing has never really been about catching fish. It’s about friendship, appreciating the time you’ve got, and finding happiness in the simple things.

I honestly think this is one of the most touching conversations I’ve ever seen on British television. It’s one of those moments that stays with you long after you’ve watched it.

❤️

Ageing well isn’t just about moving more, it’s about moving in a way that keeps you strong, steady and supported.

For women in midlife, especially over 50, weight-bearing exercises that build strength, posture and balance are key. And where appropriate, adding some impact work, like plyometrics, may help support bone density too.
