Derby Trailblazers have added elite leadership and top-flight pedigree to the backcourt with the marquee signing of experienced point guard Rodney Glasgow Jr. for the upcoming campaign.

Glasgow arrives in Derby with a reputation as a consummate floor general.
Known for his poise under pressure, sharp decision-making, and high basketball IQ, the 5 ft 11 in guard brings vital top-tier experience across Europe and British basketball—including memorable silverware, winning runs and leadership roles with the Newcastle Eagles and Sheffield Sharks.

A standout collegiate talent at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI), Glasgow orchestrated one of the most prolific NCAA Division I offences before embarking on a decorated professional career spanning Switzerland, Belgium, Slovakia, and the UK.

For the Trailblazers, Glasgow provides a steady hand at the helm: capable of dictating the tempo, creating open looks for teammates, knocking down perimeter shots, and setting a fierce defensive tone. His arrival delivers both court vision and veteran leadership as Derby gears up for another ambitious run.

Derby Trailblazers Basketball Club have been running free introductory sessions for girls at Alvaston Park over the summer, and they’re keen to get even more juniors involved.

They’ve had more girls joining the programme and even added extra sessions to meet demand. Coach Lily, who was one of the first women to gain her coaching qualification through the club’s Sport England-funded programme, is helping make the sessions welcoming and enjoyable for everyone taking part.

I dropped in this week and there was a really good atmosphere, with plenty of encouragement from the coaches and lots of team spirit.

Grassroots sport like this gives young people the chance to build confidence and develop healthy habits. Needless to say, they have my full support.

KENDRICK GILBERT SIGNS FOR TRAILBLAZERS 🚨

We are thrilled to announce the signing of American forward Kendrick Gilbert for the upcoming 2026/27 season.

Hailing from St. Louis, Kendrick brings high-level collegiate experience from NCAA Division II (University of Nebraska at Kearney) and the College of Southern Nevada. Known for his explosive athleticism, two-way versatility, and elite finishing around the rim, he is set to be a massive presence on both ends of the floor.

Head Coach Kyle Henderson shared his thoughts on the latest addition:

"I’m absolutely delighted to get Kendrick in. We’ve been speaking throughout the summer and getting to know him, and it’s going to be exciting to see the kind of energy he brings to the group. He’s locked in, hungry, and ready to compete from the get-go.

"On top of that, he’s a fantastic guy who is going to mesh really well with the rest of the team. Alongside playing for us, he’ll also be attending the University of Derby, so hopefully he can elevate the standard there and help them win games too. There’s a lot of mutual excitement about him joining the programme, and we're both just looking forward to getting to work."

JAI PATHMARAJAH RETURNS FOR ANOTHER SEASON WITH BLAZERS 🚨

Derby Trailblazers are thrilled to announce the re-signing of dynamic guard Jai Pathmarajah for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign.

Bringing relentless energy, poise under pressure, and elite playmaking back to the court, Jai’s return ensures key continuity and leadership as the Blazers gear up for another competitive season of BCB action.

Derby Trailblazers are thrilled to announce the marquee signing of Great Britain international guard; Evan Walshe for the 2026/27 season.

The dynamic 6'4" guard brings an elite pedigree and vast top-flight experience to the Blazers backcourt, having competed extensively across the BBL, Super League Basketball, and European leagues.

Walshe’s impressive basketball journey includes standout collegiate performances in the NCAA, professional stints in Germany and Spain, and lifting domestic silverware as a treble winner with the Leicester Riders.

Renowned for his explosive scoring, perimeter lockdown defence, and winning mentality, Walshe adds immediate leadership, intensity, and versatility to Derby's roster as the squad builds toward another championship-contending campaign this coming season.

Speaking on the latest addition to the roster, head coach Kyle Henderson said:

"I'm really pleased to bring someone of Evan’s calibre on board. He’s an exciting player and genuinely one of the top established British talents in the game right now. We are thrilled to announce that veteran guard Conner Washington has officially re-signed with the Derby Trailblazers for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign!

A proven winner and household name in British basketball, Conner brings an elite pedigree to our backcourt, having captured 15 major titles during his legendary tenure with the Leicester Riders, alongside European competition and Great Britain senior international caps.

Known for his high basketball IQ, lockdown perimeter defence, and clutch playmaking, he remains a vital floor general and a leader for our squad.

A true fan favourite with a Cheshire Cat smile that can light up the entire arena, Raheem has been at the very heart of our most memorable trophy runs and silverware triumphs.

Whether he’s erasing shots off the backboard as a two-time D1 Defensive Player of the Year, throwing down explosive transition dunks, or just feeding off the roar of the Clarence Wiggins crowd, Raheem brings an undeniable spark every single time he steps onto the floor.
