At EMSA BP, water safety isn't just a seasonal topic—it’s a year-round commitment! 🌊
Whether swimming indoors during autumn or visiting outdoor beaches in summer, water temperature shifts can happen quickly, triggering cold water shock.
That’s why our weekly lessons reinforce core survival skills every single month.
Always teach your children the "Float to Live" rule: roll onto your back, spread arms and legs, and float calmly until breathing controls itself.
Preparation is everything when it comes to staying safe!
Save this to review before your next family trip! 📌

We swim all year round at EMSA, and summer is no exception! 🌊
Whether you're splashing in holiday pools or keeping up your regular weekly lessons with us, water safety is always top priority.
As little ones spend hours playing in warm water, fatigue sets in much faster than during a typical session.
Remember:
‼️Armbands and inflatables are fun toys, but they aren't life preservers.
‼️Always nominate a dedicated adult "Water Watcher" to keep eyes on the pool without distractions.
Having these habits in place keeps holiday swimming safe, happy, and stress-free for everyone!

Today we are celebrating a truly beautiful family journey at EMSA—meet our absolute superstar, Luella!
Luella's swimming story started at 18 months old when she was the ultimate poolside cheerleader for her big sister. By the time Luella turned 3, she couldn't wait to jump into the pool herself! Following closely in her sister’s footsteps, she mastered core safety, balance, and stroke technique with us. All that dedication has officially paid off, and Luella has progressed beautifully through the EMSA frameworks to join her sister at Belper Marlins, taking part in formal club competitions!
From the poolside benches to the competitive blocks, we could not be more proud of the incredible swimmer Luella has become.
Leave a comment below to cheer on Luella! 🐬👇

As the summer holidays continue, outdoor swimming brings a hidden danger that our warm indoor lesson pools don't have:
Cold Water Shock.
Even on a hot day, open water can cause an involuntary gasp reflex that leads to accidental water inhalation.
Teach your children the "Float First" rule: if they fall into cold water unexpectedly, they shouldn't try to swim straight away. They need to roll onto their back, spread their arms and legs, and float until their breathing controls itself. Encourage them to enter outdoor water slowly rather than diving straight in so their body can adjust safely.
Save this post to keep these outdoor safety tips fresh in your mind this summer! 📌

Once your child moves past the preschool framework, they enter the core Swim England Learn to Swim stages.
Here is a quick guide to what they master:
🩵Stage 1 builds basic water confidence and supported floats.
🩵Stage 2 introduces independent travel and unassisted floating.
🩵Stage 3 focuses on straight-line breathing and mastering the log roll.
🩵Stage 4 refines stroke technique and streamlining.
🩵Stage 5 introduces all four strokes and treading water.
🩵Stage 6 builds stamina over longer distances.
🩵Stage 7 achieves competent swimmer status where children can swim 100 metres continuously!
Please note we do have EMSA ADDITIONS to make our swimmers stand out from the rest.
