July wrapped up.
It was a big one, it didn’t come without its challenges but it did come with a lot of change, a lot of exciting moments, a lot of Joe, a lot of friendship. My heart is full 💕

Enjoy his commentary “it looks like your cupping someone”
Last night I really didn’t want to train, I wanted to be at home with Joe.
Next best thing, Joe comes to the gym with me!! Anyone who knows Joe knows he hates the gym (loves to climb), enjoy his unhinged approach to weight training.
Tempo is the speed at which you perform each part of a repetition.
For example,
3 seconds lowering the weight
1 second pause at the bottom
1 second lifting the weight
No pause before the next rep
Slowing down your reps can make a huge difference.
Why tempo can be important;
- Goals, it makes a massive difference. For example, If your goal is building maximum strength or power, you’ll often still control the lowering phase, but the lifting phase is performed as explosively as possible.
Neither the slow and controlled or explosive approach is “better”, it all depends on what you’re training for.
- Time to think about the movement. If you’re racing through it how do you have time to think about how you’re moving?
- One way of making it harder, for example if you don’t have access to heavier weights or it’s a big jump you’re not quite ready for. Increasing time under tension can help you get there.
