Missed Saturday? The first home game since July, and Stefen Hill looked the part.

Tom Rolfe got us on the board early. Old Leamingtonians led 19-5 at the break, then Tom Silk and Brad Markham both went over and Phil Reed landed both conversions to bring it back to 19-24 before the visitors had the last word.

Plenty in that second half to build on.

Two losses, one truth: we showed up.

The 1XV fought Old Leamingtonians hard — physicality, discipline, speed — and came inches from it at the end.

The Valkyries took on strong opposition in their opener and showed us the foundation to build from.

The season is long; two Saturdays don't define it. What defines it is what we do next.

Next up: Broadstreet II, HOME, Stefen Hill, Saturday 15:00. One week to prepare. Support the team.

On a normal Saturday a player of the match would be picked. But everyone knows this is a reset year — and seeing players from the 1st XV to the 4th turn up, do a job and really connect as a squad, with no one looking out of place, the award this week goes to Daventry RFC. The players, the coaches, the ground team, the physios, and the support on the patio.

A foundation was built on Saturday, and it will only get stronger. Best of all, it came with smiles: in the bar, on the patio, and from every player in the team.

Community rugby is about being part of something and loving it. That is what we have to offer, and what we strive for at every level.

Every week we get stronger. The future looks bright.
