Before kick-off, both teams, coaches and spectators came together to observe a minute’s silence in memory of PC Blades and PC Clough, who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty a couple of weeks ago.

A fitting and respectful start to the morning. Our thoughts remain with their families, friends and colleagues.

Darlington Spraire Ladies v Seaham Coast Ladies

💛 A strong 5-1 victory today for the ladies on their first game of the season!💛

Looking to continue their unbeaten preseason streak, Spraire take the lead early.

At 4’ Ellie N loops a corner in perfectly for Kayleigh to head into the back of the net making it 1-0.
Soon after at 6’ further attacking action from Spraire and an excellent ball over from Kayleigh finds Katie B, who drives into the box and finishes it powerfully top corner, 2-0 Spraire.

Spraire maintain the pressure with defence remaining solid and utilising the wing backs; the middle three work hard creating triangles across the pitch and making chances up top for Ella and Katie.
Then at 30’ Spraire make it 3-0: after working the ball out from the back following a Seaham attack, Sara W lays up Ellie N who shoots and scores!

The ladies see out the rest of the half strong, and despite numerous chances from Ella, Katie B and Ellie N hitting the side netting, the game remains at 3-0 for half time.

The second half sees both sides having more chances, and Seaham ramping up the pressure.
Seaham get their goal around 55’ after a defensive mishap following a long ball over the top, making it 3-1.

Spraire react and are soon back on the attack. At 70’ Katie B delivers a clever ball through to Ella who rounds the keeper and fires it home, making it 4-1.

Katie B gets her second goal at 74’ with a powerful shot following an assist from Sara W , bringing the game to 5-1.

Spraire see out the game confidently to gain their first victory of the season, following a strong performance from all!
