U14 Pre season friendly match reports

Following the tournament triumph the girls have had two pre-season friendlies in the build up to the start of the season.

First up was was Kader last weekend where the girls were joined by Thornaby FC players to ensure the game could go ahead as scheduled. The game was won with a Mega hatrick and a Sadie wonder strike. Thanks to the Thornaby FC U14 Girls for joining us.

Today was an away fixture to South Park Rangers Belles. Whilst the girls gave a great account of themselves they just couldnt convert any of their chances created and walked away with a 1-0 defeat. Player of the match goes to Alexis who put a superb shift in at fullback.

A bit of rest and finishing practice will see the girls ready for the start of the season.

U14 Girls - Proud winners of the Barry Thomas Memorial Cup

Middleton travelled the short distance to South Park Rangers in sweltering conditions to continue their preparations for the upcoming season.

A change in format was required in the group stages as a team failed to turn up. This saw each team play each other twice. Middleton cruised through the group stages scoring 11 goals without conceeding. Goal of the group stage goes to Bea who scored a wonderful solo goal in the final group game.

Progression to the semi finals saw a resolute Middleton team thwart Sunderland RCA attacks. All the girls were fully committed to working for each other to ensure another game without conceding. The winning goal came from goalkeeper Athina's second assist of the day, which saw Poppy race clear to calmly slot home the winner.

The final was one of real drama as the girls had to dig deep as the efforts of the day were really beginning to show. In the middle of the first half calamity at the back saw the first goal of the day conceded. It looked like that might be enough for Middlesbrough to get their hands on the trophy, but in the dying seconds Bethany squared the ball across the box for Lola to tap home from 2 yards.

With the final going to penalties it was anyones to take. First up was Ava who calmy slotted it home and then Poppy who also expertly found the net. With the girls 2-1 up Athina pulled off heroics to save Middlesbroughs second penalty leaving the final penalty to Bethany who nervously converted.

True grit, determination and team spirit from the girls who deserve a good rest tonight! All the girls played their part today and it was fantastic that they all got to feature in the final.

Finally, thanks to South Park Rangers Belles U14 Girls for hosting a fantastic tournament and supplying us with a young mascot and refereeing assistant!

Tournament - Middleton Rangers u9 Rockets

Today saw the Rockets play a tough Tournament at Middlesbrough.

Throughout the games the girls showed determination and strength. Each player gave it their all during a hot and humid morning.

The rockets got through to the silver cup knockout stages and they smashed their way through to the final.

The final game saw the girls produce some excellent team work and five superb goals to crown them silver cup CHAMPIONS!!!!

We are all really proud of the girls and they deserved the win today.

The club are delighted to officially announce that we have secured a 5 year lease on the airport pitches 🙌 ⚽️ 🧡🖤

A gruelling but enjoyable weekend for the players and parents of the u14 girls. A late entry to a Friday night tournament was followed by the presentation day on Saturday.

TOURNAMENT FRIDAY

SPOILER "Won two lost one. Lost the final"

A muggy Friday saw some old friends reunited in orange as Darcey rejoined the team alongside some younger middleton players who stepped up a year group. As soon as the teams were announced the eventaul winners were clear to all, so it was a battle for second place.

The first two games were a win and a loss which left it to the last group game to decide whether it would be progression to the cup or plate final. Our opponents, Boro Rangers, have traditionally posed a stern test for us leaving us on the wrong side of results. On this occasion Middleton were on top form creating multiple chances... but the winning goals were moments of genius. First was long range brilliance from Mega who spotted the keeper off her line... this was followed up by Poppy who, whilst the crowd were shout pass, shielded the ball expertly before dinking a fantastic clip into the far corner.

In classic Middleton we were kept us on the edge of our seats as the girls conceded late in the game from a rare Boro Rangers attack. Thankfully, the girls held out for the win.

The final was one where the girls played with smiles on their faces knowing a second place finish was more than enough to secure a maccy d's meal deal from the Manager.

A special mention needs to be made for the Nunthorpe manager who was a class act on the sideline; constantly providing encouragement and calm advice to his team in every game.

PRESENTATION SATURDAY

A sweltering day at the airport pitches where awards were won, drinks were drank and fun was had.
If the heat wasn't enough we packed ourselves into the sauna of a marqee for Tony to lavish praise on the growth of the team to the baying crowd of players, family, random man and Grandma Rita.

We said goodbye to some dear friends and parents as Lilly, Maya and Roukaia step away from the game... but we wish them well and always leave the door wide open should they wish to return to football.

A special thanks to Beth, Charlotte, Jemima, Tony, Mark, Sri and Ginnie (the cog) who assisted the smooth running of the booze and refreshment sales.

THE SEASON AHEAD

It wouldn't be a full review without some sort of corny quote from Tony... so to the girls...

Our Earharts would like to say a huge thank you to MFC Foundation for a fabulous FREE tournament tonight!

They played their socks off winning the semi final on penalties, and just loosing out on the final in dreaded penalties again! We couldn’t be prouder of the way they played tonight!

Today 2 of our girls teams went to Redcar for a tournament - the U14s and the U10 Earharts.

Both teams battled well in closely contested matches and gave it their all. They played, they laughed, shared snacks and danced (for the most part off the pitch!) and enjoyed some time with their friends. Well done girls!
