Meet the Hyrox coaches….Jordan Hanratty.
Jordan will be one the coaches on the Hyrox open days. He has a vast amount of knowledge in Hyrox from training, coaching and competing.
Where’s he’s been training and competing for the past 3 years, starting his journey in Manchester.
He loves the rower, but hates the burpees!
Jordan’s advice is “to have fun, enjoy the event on the day and not to underestimate the amount of running involved for a Hyrox”

Yes, you can now position your feet when you jump or step up to be staggered. One foot is allowed to be 5cm (2 inches for old people like me) in front of the other.
This allows for those athletes who can’t bring their feet full back under their chest together to stagger their feet.
The big issue I see here is your 5cm to my 5cm may be completely different.
My advice would be not to stagger them too much if you need to and if you don’t need to stagger them don’t do it. The last thing you need is a judge watching and questioning you over how far forward your foot is positioned.

𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙜𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙖𝙞𝙡… Sounds crazy! Failing we can’t do that I hear you say!
Yup go and fail. Don’t over load the bar with a weight you defiantly know you can’t lift. Especially if you’ve done the exercises before.
But, try to lift a weight for the required rep range to see if you can lift it. You’re looking for your ceiling weight for that rep range.
To many of us don’t lift with the right amount of intensity, hence we don’t fatigue the muscle as much as we should.
The sooner you know the weight that you can lift for that rep range with the required intensity in your block of training the more benefit you will get from your training.
This is instead of doing a 1 rep max test. Something which has a lot of risk for injury and probably not the best way if you’re new to lifting.
Another way is once you’ve finished your set, asking yourself how many more reps couldn’t you have done. If the answer is 1-2 your around the right weight. If the answer is 3-5 then add some more weight. This known as reps in reserve.
Happy lifting team!
𝙒𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘽𝙀𝙇𝙊𝙒 𝙋𝘼𝙍𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙀𝙇… (And don’t argue with the judge!
Common mistake people make is athletes thinking their hips can be parallel with their knee. When the rules state the hips have to be below parallel.
And don’t argue with the judge. It wastes time, they’re not going to rectify any lost reps. Accept it and move on.

𝙃𝙮𝙧𝙤𝙭 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣…Vital in a doubles partnership!
Knowing what your partner is doing and how they feel is vital.
Clearly in the video one partner was missing. Someone messed up and the other partner wasn’t able to let them know until it’s too late.
I’ve seen it myself when it happens and it can mess up your race. This is added pressure you don’t need.
Stay close to each other. The rules do state that both partners have to run together for the whole 1000m and if one partner runs ahead there is a 1 minute time penalty.
And both partners must enter the workout station together. If partners don’t stay together and receive 3 penalties for not staying together, they may be deemed as “Out of Competition”.
Not what you want after all the hard work of training and it’s not worth the risk crossing the finish line to see your efforts have been in vain!

No matter which way you choose to lose weight it takes time. Days, months and possibly years.
You don’t gain weight overnight, it takes days, weeks and possibly years to gain. So why do we think weight loss would happen overnight.
Be patient and respect it takes hard work and commitment to lose body fat.
