On Sunday, our U12 boys had their first SWYHA games of the season 🏑

We fielded 2 teams and faced opposition from Abergavenny, Sue Noake and Whitchurch.

The boys put in some incredible performances, the hockey was a joy to watch and there were some awesome team goals scored 👌🏼

The boys played with a smile on their faces, behaved impeccably and supported each other throughout.

Huge shout out to Blake playing his first ever match in goal, to Ollie playing his first match full stop, to the boys from U10’s playing their first U12 games and to last year’s U12’s who showed great maturity and leadership.

This group is a pleasure for coaches Tim, Emily, Conor and Tess to work with and we’re super excited about the season ahead 🤩

Thanks also to Vaughans Accountancy Services Limited for their continued sponsorship 😊

Gwent Men’s 1s Match Report 🏑👏

Gwent Men’s 1s played their final preseason friendly today, choosing to play four quarters in preparation for the new season.

Just three minutes into the match, Gwent were reduced to ten men after one of the players became unwell and was unable to continue. Despite the early setback, the team remained patient and organised, particularly in defence, and worked hard to keep the opposition at bay.

The first half was a closely contested affair, with neither side able to find a breakthrough, and the teams went into half time with the score at 0–0.

At half time, an eleventh player was found, allowing Gwent to play the remaining two quarters with a full side. Having eleven players on the pitch made a noticeable difference, and Gwent began to take greater control of the game.

The patience and disciplined hockey eventually paid off, with Gwent finding the goal three times during the third and fourth quarters. The team remained cool, calm and collected as they saw out the match to secure a well deserved 3–1 victory.

The U16s Girls took on the challenge of their first league fixture of the season against Cardiff & Met, and with bare 11 players!

The girls showed some excellent hockey, worked incredibly hard, and gave it everything from start to finish 💪

Unfortunately, we didn’t come away with the win, but they should all be extremely proud of this morning’s performance. A 3–2 result against a strong Cardiff & Met side is still a fantastic effort! 👏

Well done, girls - a brilliant start to the season! 🖤 🧡
