Great day for Glenavy Academy Fc
As the 1st of our u18 lads makes debut for Glenavy FC seniors
This is just the start of the pathway for our players as they make the move up to the senior panel
Over the last few weeks the Academy lads have been training alongside the seniors and they have all been outstanding

Broomhedge Reserves 3 - 2 𝗚𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱𝘀

A great run out for the third team on Wednesday night seen them fall to a narrow defeat. Glenavy conceded first but responded well after great work from Gareth Smylie to both win and convert a penalty. Glenavy then started to take control and took a deserved lead through the dangerous Charlie Grant. The front 3 of Smylie, Wright and Grant were causing a lot of problems to the Broomhedge defence.

A host of changes at half time were made to give everyone valuable minutes in the legs. There were some standout performances despite Glenavy surrendering their lead to Broomhedge to ultimately lose the game 3-2. Bradlee Chapman looked very sharp and was unlucky not to score on a few occasions after some excellent saves from the Broomhedge keeper. It was also terrific to see Sam McCready back on the pitch after a bad injury. But the biggest positive on the night was young Luke Daye who was stepping up from our under 18s team. He was absolutely superb and showed composure far beyond his years at left back. Luke epitomised the great work that has been going on at our academy, he was a credit to his coaches and it was brilliant to see him in the senior shirt. The future is bright! 👏
