Willaston White star F.C Sunday Team 6 - 6 C&N United

An end-to-end match that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

From a C&N perspective, there were plenty of positives going forward, but defensively we were below the standards we’ve set ourselves.

A combination of individual mistakes and an unwillingness to put the work in across the pitch to defend as a unit meant we were carved open far too many times. It certainly didn’t help that Willaston’s three shots in the first half resulted in three goals, but ultimately, we gave them the opportunities to punish us.

We’ve been much better than that throughout pre-season, and we expect to be far tighter as we move forward.

In the end, it was a game that either side could have won. We take the point, learn from it, and move on to next week’s game against Holmes Chapel.

C&N United 5-0 Crewe Rovers FC

A fantastic result for the lads today as we comfortably put Crewe Rovers away. God only knows how this one wasn’t 10 or more!

We started incredibly well — probably the best we’ve seen us play in a long time. Quick, two-touch passing meant they simply couldn’t get near us for large spells of the first half. Despite dominating, we somehow went into the break just 1-0 up, with several excellent saves from their goalkeeper and the woodwork keeping the scoreline down. At 1-0, it was starting to feel like one of those days. There’s always a way back into a game at that scoreline, no matter how much you dominate.

We started brightly again after the break, however, and quickly put the game to bed with three goals in quick succession. Shortly afterwards, a Crewe Rovers player was shown a second yellow for mouthing off at the referee. We added another soon after to make it five.

With 15 minutes to go and the game completely out of sight, we probably took our foot off the gas a little too much instead of really putting them to the sword — the only real downside from an otherwise excellent performance.

Rovers then picked up another needless second yellow for, you guessed it, mouthing off at the referee again! From there, we saw the game out comfortably.

We did score a sixth with the final kick of the game, but the referee hadn’t realised the ball had gone in and bounced back out, so the goal wasn’t given. To his credit, he accepted his mistake after the final whistle — no harm done in the end!

A brilliant start to the season, capped off with a clean sheet. 👏

We’ve got a free week next weekend before returning to action against Willaston White star F.C Sunday Team on Sunday 20th September.

We bring pre-season to a close with a convincing 7-1 victory over Crewe Rovers FC.

After a slow start, it was a dominant display from the lads, with two almost completely different teams in each half both putting in a shift and competing for starting spots ahead of next weekend.

Goal Scorers: Copey (x2), Mike, Tom H, Ash, Charlie & Finn.

We now turn our attention to the start of the Crewe Regional Sunday Football League, with our campaign getting underway next weekend at the Brittles against Crewe Rovers FC — a repeat of this weekend’s fixture.

A disappointing 1-4 result today against AFC Dishers following a few sloppy goals. We regroup ahead of our final preseason fixture next weekend against Crewe Rovers FC.

Our first full pre-season outing saw us draw 1-1 with Willaston White star F.C Sunday Team.

After a strong start and taking a 1-0 lead, we slowed down a little after the hydration break, allowing them back into the game through a penalty. A change to our full outfield 10 at half-time saw a completely different, but equally positive, second half from the lads.

Considering the lack of minutes in the legs and the number of new players still building connections, there were plenty of positives to take from the game.

We continue our preparations with training on Tuesday, before our next fixture at home next Sunday against Audlem F.C.

Unfortunately, today’s friendly against AFC Bowling Green had to be abandoned after 25 minutes following a serious injury to the Bowling Green right-back. Everyone at the club wishes him a full and speedy recovery. 💙

We’re back to training on Tuesday from 7:00–8:00pm, before our next pre-season friendly at home against Willaston White star F.C Sunday Team next Sunday.

Another excellent training session last night, with 18 lads putting in the work! We were expecting up to 22 before a few last-minute dropouts, but still a fantastic turnout!

With our first pre-season fixture now less than two weeks away, the hard work continues. We'll be back at it on Sunday as we build towards the season ahead.

Another session in the bag last night, with a solid turnout for an evening of "fun" pressing drills. Judging by the noises coming from some of the lads, we may have discovered a few new muscles.

This Sunday's session is currently scheduled for the luxurious lie-in slot of 11:00–12:30 to accommodate any Saturday night "recovery programmes."

That said, the HR department has already received an alarming number of notifications regarding mysterious illnesses, sudden family bereavements, and what appears to be a club-wide outbreak of "I definitely can't make it." We'll keep you all posted if the casualty list continues to grow and training has to be postponed... 🍻😂

Another great session this morning with the lads, with everyone putting a real shift in for the full two hours.

The hard work continues on Tuesday evening, 19:00-20:00.
