• Different grip styles and their common purpose
• Aim, start line & stroke fundamentals
• Green reading — Developed a Green reading routine, matching pace with line
• Developing feel is so important for different green speeds & surfaces
• Setting the correct expectations is key. Understand what good putting looks like and you will save shots.

PUTTING MASTERCLASS – COMPLETE ⛳️

A great session focused on simplifying putting and developing a repeatable process that performs under pressure on the golf course.

SET-UP & STROKE
We established the key fundamentals required to create a consistent putting stroke:

• Ball position
• Distance from the ball
• Eye line
• Putter face aim
• Stroke & face control

The goal isn’t to create a “perfect” stroke — it’s to build a functional, repeatable one.

PUTTING GRIPS
We explored a variety of grip styles and demonstrated why, despite looking very different, they are fundamentally trying to achieve similar outcomes:

Stability • Face Control • Consistency

Understanding why a grip works is far more valuable than simply copying one.

GREEN READING & PACE CONTROL
We created a simple green-reading structure that incorporates pace into every decision.

Line and pace are directly linked.
Change the pace and you change the amount of break — and therefore the required start line.

THE KEY MESSAGE

Great putting is about simplifying the process:

READ IT. AIM IT. START IT. CONTROL THE PACE.

Build a repeatable process, commit to your decisions and become a more predictable putter.

Bunker Masterclass – Complete

Another fantastic evening with a committed group of golfers, all focused on building a more reliable, adaptable and confident bunker game.

For many golfers, bunkers are viewed as hazards to fear. The objective of this masterclass was to change that mindset by developing a clear understanding of how to assess each situation, select the correct technique and execute with confidence.

What we covered

Setting the correct expectations

Elite players understand that every bunker shot presents a different challenge. Success isn’t measured by perfection—it’s measured by making the highest percentage decision based on the situation.

We discussed how factors such as the lie, sand condition, distance to the pin and available green all influence what represents a successful outcome.

Reading the lie

Every bunker shot begins with assessment. Before selecting a technique, we learned how to identify the variables that dictate ball flight and control, including:

* Buried lies (fried eggs)
* Ball sitting cleanly on the sand
* Ball sitting up
* Uphill lies
* Downhill lies
* Wet and compacted sand
* Soft, deep and fluffy sand
* Long bunker shots
* Short-sided recovery shots

Technique and shot selection

One technique does not fit every bunker shot.

We explored how subtle adjustments in setup and delivery allow you to produce predictable outcomes from a wide variety of lies and sand conditions, including:

* Selecting the correct club
* Understanding where the club should enter the sand
* Controlling the depth of strike
* Managing bounce effectively
* Producing different launch windows
* Controlling trajectory and spin
* Matching technique to the shot the situation demands

The focus throughout was understanding why each adjustment is made, rather than simply copying a technique.

The key message

The lie dictates the technique. The technique dictates the outcome.

Once you understand how the lie and the condition of the sand influence strike, launch, trajectory and spin, bunker play becomes predictable rather than intimidating.

Instead of hoping for a good shot, you begin to understand what the ball is likely to do before you play it. That allows you to make better decisions, commit with confidence and execute more consistently.

The result is improved proximity to the hole, more up-and-down opportunities, fewer dropped shots and, ultimately, lower scores.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed throughout the evening. The level of engagement and willingness to learn was outstanding, and it was great to see confidence growing with every shot.

I look forward to seeing you all at the next Short Game Series Putting Masterclass.

It was a good test at West Hove.

Hot, windy conditions on an extremely dry, fast-running golf course with some of the best greens I’ve played on this year.

A solid display from tee to green, but more than anything it was a day where good course management and patience made the difference.

Delighted to come away with the win.

A little snippet from my recent Slope Mastery class.

Hitting it stiff during the demonstration… 🤷‍♂️

One of the biggest lessons from the evening wasn’t the shot itself—it was learning how to hit the shot and to set the correct expectations.

Understand your own game.

Some shots on the golf course are incredibly difficult, and the reality is that none of us are good at every one of them. The key is recognising the challenge, making smart decisions, and playing the highest-percentage shot.

Chipping Masterclass – Complete
A great evening with an excellent group of golfers, all focused on building a more reliable and predictable short game.
What we covered:
Setting the correct expectationsUnderstanding what constitutes a good outcome based on the difficulty of the lie, rather than simply judging the result. Better decisions start with realistic expectations.
Reading the lieWe explored how different lies influence the shot and the adjustments required to play them effectively, including:
● Tight lies
● Bare lies
● Uphill lies
● Downhill lies
● Good lies
● Into the grain
● Down grain
Technique and shot selectionRather than applying one technique to every shot, we learned how to adapt technique to suit the lie and the shot required. This included when to increase or reduce trajectory and spin, giving each player more options and greater control around the greens.
The key message:
The lie dictates the shot.
Once you understand how the lie influences launch, trajectory and spin, you can accurately predict how the ball will behave. That allows you to select the correct shot, identify the ideal landing area, and execute with greater confidence and consistency.
The result is improved proximity to the hole, more up-and-down opportunities, and lower scores.
Thank you to everyone who attended. It was fantastic to see so much engagement throughout the session, and I look forward to seeing you at the next Short Game Series masterclass.
