Our Oakwood F.C u11s match report from yesterday.

Oakwood U11s began their season with a home fixture against familiar opponents Capel Comets. Having enjoyed most of the early possession and created the better chances, Oakwood were unfortunate not to take the lead.

Instead, it was Capel who struck first against the run of play. The visitors then had the chance to extend their advantage from the penalty spot, but the effort crashed against the crossbar to keep Oakwood in the game.

Oakwood came out strongly in the second half and deservedly equalised via a peach of a cross from out wide was finished well from close range volly range. The hosts continued to press, but an excellent performance from the Capel goalkeeper kept the scores level.

With only a few minutes remaining, a misplaced pass allowed Capel to break forward and score the winner, leaving Oakwood on the wrong side of a 2-1 result.

Despite the disappointment, there were plenty of positives for Oakwood, with several new players making encouraging contributions and key players still to return in the coming weeks. A promising start, even if the points didn't follow. ❤️🖤⚽

Our first match together and I think the nerves got to a few of the boys we found ourselves up against a very fair but physical team we conceded early and defended with everything we had our motm was Archie who gave it his all always trying to drive us forward and never let anything knock his confidence well done Archie 👏🏻👏🏻

Great starts for the Under 10s with a terrific performance against Cuckfield Cosmos.
Rory was managers player of the day today with an incredible display in a new position!
Atilla was our parents player of the day, an all action non stop performance, I was exhausted watching it!

Great start to the season for our Oakwood F.C u18s 👏

You couldn’t ask for a tougher start to the season, away to the defending league champions Poets Corner.
The challenge became even harder after finding ourselves 2-0 down after 45 mins, the Oakwood players were in disbelief at the score and to not have registered a goal due to the opposing keeper making several outstanding saves.
The second half was a different story.
59 mins in a flick on from Tom Buckle and a run from outside to in by Callum Jackson and the oaks were 2-1.
10 mins later the oaks were level, a long ball forward by Brodie Ryrie Smith, a debated flick on by Brandon Phrom and Tom Buckle was through to make it 2-2 with 20 minutes to go.
Both teams pushed forward to secure all 3 points, the Oaks Tom Duncan making a special one handed stretch reactive save when the goal seemed inevitable.
With 10 mins remaining coach Phil Peters looked to reintroduce his long serving number 9 in the number 10 role Jonah Stellabotte, 30 seconds later it was 3-2.
Job done.
