Knockdown: 4 penalties
Refusal / run-out: 4 penalties
Second refusal / run-out: 4 additional penalties
Third refusal / run-out: Elimination
Fall of horse or rider: Elimination
Wrong course: Elimination
Time: The course is timed, but no time penalties are added.
Winner: The competitor with the lowest total penalties.
Tie-break: If competitors finish on the same penalties, the fastest time wins.
