Leaving your pet behind when you travel could soon become a thing of the past. Following strong customer demand, Virgin Australia is expanding its innovative Pets in Cabin service to more routes across its network, with Adelaide becoming the latest city to welcome pet-friendly flights.
Since launching in October 2025, nearly 1,500 pets have already taken to the skies, allowing passengers to enjoy the comfort of travelling with their furry family members by their side. The first Adelaide service is set to depart for Melbourne on 23 June, complete with a special send-off for its four-legged guests.
Virgin Australia says it’s continuing to work closely with airports to identify additional destinations, although expansion depends on airports allowing animals within passenger terminals. More pet-friendly routes are expected to be announced in the months ahead.
For many travellers, pets aren’t just animals—they’re family. This latest expansion reflects changing passenger expectations and could signal a new era of more inclusive air travel. Would you book a flight with your pet in the cabin? Let us know in the comments. 🐶🐱✈️

United Airlines is marking America’s semiquincentennial in style with the launch of not one, but two eye-catching special liveries. The airline has dressed a Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner and a Boeing 737-800 in an all-blue “Stars and Stripes” design inspired by the US flag ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations. 🇺🇸✈️
The Boeing 787-10 (N91007) will take the patriotic theme across United’s long-haul network, operating international routes including São Paulo and Honolulu. Meanwhile, the Boeing 737-800 (N78285) will showcase the special livery on domestic and short-haul services, ensuring passengers across the country get a chance to see it up close.
Special liveries have become a favourite among aviation enthusiasts, and this latest addition is no exception. By placing the design on both a widebody and narrowbody aircraft, United is turning everyday flights into flying tributes to a major moment in American history.
Avgeeks, spotters and frequent flyers alike will be keeping a close eye on these aircraft as they make their way around the network. The only question is: which one would you rather catch in person, the Dreamliner or the 737? 👀📸

Stop guessing what the examiner will ask.
Here's the truth about type rating oral exams: the questions are not random. Examiners probe the same systems, the same procedures, the same failure scenarios and the pilots who've done the right preparation know exactly what's coming.
The 737 NG. The A320. The 777. The A380. The 787 Dreamliner. The Q400. The ERJ-145. Whatever aircraft is on your type rating certificate, we've built the most comprehensive question bank for it. Whether you're on your first type rating or adding a widebody qualification, we've got the preparation tool you need.
This is how prepared pilots prepare. Click the link : https://aviationinsider.com/shop?category=type-rating-question-banks

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has become the first airport in Europe to deploy electric TaxiBots for Airbus operations. Instead of using their engines to taxi to the runway, aircraft are now being towed by semi-robotic electric vehicles controlled by the pilots from the cockpit.
The result?
- Up to 65% less fuel used during taxi
- Around 95kg of fuel saved per flight
- Nearly 300kg less CO₂ emissions per departure
- Reduced airport noise
easyJet has already begun using the system with its Airbus A320neo fleet, and Schiphol plans to expand the technology to more aircraft types in the future. Could this be one of the simplest ways for airlines to cut emissions without changing the aircraft itself?
Would you be happy being pushed to the runway instead of taxiing under engine power?

The days of simply ticking boxes and practising set manoeuvres are rapidly evolving. Airbus has announced a major transformation in aviation training, built around three key pillars:
- Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA)
- Virtual Reality and the Virtual Procedure Trainer (VPT)
- New instructor development and airline consulting programmes
Rather than focusing solely on technical tasks such as engine failures or crosswind landings, modern training now emphasises nine core pilot competencies, including leadership, communication, decision-making, situational awareness and workload management.
Airbus has now updated its entire pilot training curriculum to align with the latest ICAO CBTA standards, helping pilots develop the skills needed to manage real-world operational challenges and unexpected situations.
One of the most exciting developments is the Virtual Procedure Trainer (VPT), a cloud-based training platform that allows pilots to practise cockpit procedures using a computer or VR headset before entering the simulator. This helps pilots arrive better prepared, allowing valuable Full Flight Simulator time to focus on realistic scenarios and crew decision-making.
The company is also helping airlines transition to Evidence-Based Training (EBT) by providing specialist instructor training, programme development support and standardisation services.
As aircraft become more automated, Airbus believes the future of aviation training will focus less on memorisation and more on developing resilient, adaptable pilots capable of solving complex problems in real time.
