Cramlington Cricket Club Cramlington Cricket Club, est. 2005. 2 Saturday Senior Teams, Academy, Ladies, 2 Midweek & Juniors U9-18s

As our club enters into the 2023 season, it promises to be our biggest one yet. We currently have 2 senior weekend teams, both competing in the Northumberland Cricket League. We also have 2 midweek teams - one competing in the Northumberland Cricket League and the other in the North-East Midweek League. We run a successful ladies team who train on Tuesday evenings. We also host a very impressive junior section, ranging from Under 9s to Under 18s for the first time in our history. Junior development and progression has always been at the forefront of our clubs agenda and this has been rewarded by producing many talented young cricketers who currently represent our senior teams. To support our junior teams we have 4 ECB Level 2 Coaches and 6 ECB Level 1 coaches. New players and members are always welcome, ability and experience is not important - we are a very social, friendly club and welcome all backgrounds. As our presentation night looms there will be one player who won't be there. Our overseas Masroor Haider Butt has set sail from the North East and visits family and friends before making his final journey home. What an addition he has been to the club playing in our 1st XI and the midweek 8 ball team. He has shown real skill with both bat and ball, coming in with over 60 wickets for the year and over 700 runs.

It's fair to say he has had a big hand to play in our best ever league finish since the NTCL formed and a closely run promotion race which we just missed out on.

We hope you enjoyed your season with us Mas as much as we enjoyed having you. We wish you all the very best with your cricket back in New Zealand. Welcome to call in any time should you find yourself back in the North East.

🏏Saturday 2XI Result🏏

And that’s a wrap for 2026!

For the last time this season, we took the field at Bomarsund Welfare Cricket Club looking to finish on a high.

We limped to 127 all out in the 36th over. A solid knock from the skipper Steve holding the innings together with a 50. Max continued his new found confidence with the bat but ran out of partners.

We got to work early with the ball with 2 down in single figures courtesy of Max but then a brutal innings from the opposition number 5 took the game away from us! Wickets were shared about with 2 for Max and 1 a piece for Jobba, Steve & Cal.
Bomar coming out winners by 5 wickets.

It brings an end to our campaign with a mid table finish. So many positives to take from the season though with many youngsters blooded into the senior set up.

A huge thank you to all those who have played and supported the club over the season.

Saturday 1st XI Result

Last game of the season and promotion out of sight barring some miracle we were arguably somewhat deflated. However, winning the tos and bowling first we made inroad quickly with Sax striking twice. Bomar put together a partnership with some patient batting on a slightly spicy deck.
However we made the breakthrough and then took wickets fairly regularly. Until Mas parting gift as a bowler for Cram this year taking 3 wickets in 5 balls in his 6th over. Closing Bomar's innings on 188.

Requiring 189 we set about our business. With Michael and Aatif at the top setting the tone. Jumping on any loose delivery. Michael was removed with a very good yorker and Tom soon followed with a very good catch from Bomar's keeper. Partnerships formed around Will first with Aatif, then Fin , Graeme and then Aaron. Keeping the runs ticking over. Run rate was never the issue but running out of wickets certainly was. With 12 runs to get and one wicket remaining we found ourselves as we so often have the season in a nervous wait to get over the line.

And we did, finishing with 29 points and securing 4th spot in the league. Which may feel like disappointment but is the highest finish for the 1st XI in recent times and we can take a lot of positives from the season.

🏏Saturday 2XI Result🏏

Not our finest few hours against Civil Service. We scrambled our way to 89 with the bat. We did stick at it and took 4 wickets though in their chase. A couple of wickets each for youngsters Max & Lewis. Also, a tremendous diving grab behind from GB a highlight of the day.

We take the positives though, 8 of our 11 today all play/played juniors at Cram with 7 of those still u18. All a great learning experience for them!

We finish our campaign next week with the short trip to Bomarsund Welfare Cricket Club🏏
