Kerr Paterson on his final lap #629 ❤️🖤
As a family, we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for the incredible love and support we have received over the last six weeks.
The racing family comes together in times of laughter and celebration, but even more so in times of heartbreak and sorrow. We are incredibly proud to be part of such a special community.
A heartfelt thank you to Columbine Funeral Directors, especially Laura, who took control of everything and went above and beyond for Kerr and for us. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without her.
Thank you to Dougie Smith, who was recommended to us by Laura, for conducting such a beautiful service. He captured Kerr perfectly and somehow turned what was the second worst day of our lives into a memory we will always treasure.
Billy’s one wish was for Kerr to have one final lap of his home track, and thanks to Stuart, Gareth, DB, Jordyn and Keith, every detail was absolutely perfect.
The entire Racewall team did Kerr proud with all the thoughtful touches, the flags, the gate, Raymond capturing the photographs, and Declan creating this beautiful video for us to share.
Finally, all we ask is that you never forget Kerr. He was an amazing young man with the kindest heart, a huge passion for racing, and a bright future ahead of him. He touched so many lives in such a short time, and we will continue to keep his memory alive every single day.
Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts.

We are truly heartbroken to be sharing this news. 💔
As a team, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to race this weekend at Skegness Raceway for the Saloon UK Championship.
It hasn’t been an easy decision, but we know that Kerr would have wanted Gary to race and for us all to be with the people that mean so much to us as a team.
This weekend is for him. ❤️🏁

A 17-year-old who died in a crash on the B914 near Kelty has been named as Kerr Paterson from Saline.
The incident happened around 2.25am on Sunday, 5 July, near the junction with the A823 and involved a yellow Volkswagon Golf and a blue Toyota Aygo.
Kerr’s family has asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them.
They have released the following statement: “We are devastated by the loss of Kerr. He was a wonderful, hardworking young man with a bright future ahead of him. He meant the world to us, his parents, his two brothers and sister, and to his many family and friends, and we are struggling to come to terms with this tragic loss.
“Kerr had a deep passion for stock car racing. He truly loved it, and it brought him great happiness. He was proud of what he achieved in the sport, and those memories will stay with us forever.
“We would like to thank the police officers who have supported us throughout this incredibly difficult time. Their kindness, compassion, and professionalism have been a great comfort, and we are deeply grateful for everything they have done.
“We have been overwhelmed by the messages of love, support, and condolences we have received, and we thank everyone for their kindness.
“As a family, we respectfully ask that our privacy is respected as we grieve, support one another, and remember Kerr.”
A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
Sergeant Lee Walkingshaw said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Kerr and they have asked for time to come to terms with what has happened.
“We are continuing to appeal for information and asking anyone who can assist and who has not yet spoken to officers to get in touch.
“If you were driving in the area at the time please check any dash-cam footage you might have to see if something has been captured that could help with our investigation.”
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0511 of Sunday, 5 July, 2026.
