Big news yesterday!

Start of the season delayed!

First Wheats game will now be Saturday 26th September!

After careful consideration and consultation with clubs across England, the RFU has decided to delay the start of the competitive community game season until the week commencing Monday 21 September.

The RFU recognises this will be disappointing for clubs, players and volunteers who have been preparing for the new season, but the decision follows consideration of a range of factors. For full details please follow this link.

Gaz Windsor continues as Vice Captain of the Wheats 1st XV for the new season 🤩 our Players Player of the season last year will partner his best bud Fishy into leading the boys next year (after Gaz’s usual September holiday 😒)

Coach Clarky 🗣️
Gaz “The Welsh Wizard” Windsor has been nothing short of outstanding in an Old Wheats shirt. Whether he’s pulling the strings at 10, controlling the game from 12, or providing security at 15, Gaz brings quality, composure and class every time he steps onto the pitch. His distribution is exceptional, his defence is fearless, and his kicking game consistently puts us in the right areas.

More than just a brilliant player, Gaz is a natural leader and someone the lads genuinely look up to. He leads by example in everything he does, setting the standards with his commitment, work ethic and attitude. Every club needs a player like Gaz—and we’re lucky to have our very own Welsh Wizard.

Our 1st XV for the 2026/27 season James Fisher 💙

Fishy will captain the side on match days for the 5th season running 🤩 an absolute warrior on the pitch, never lets his teammates down, never misses a tackle and throws a dummy like no one else 🔥 one the nicest lads you could ever meet and always one of the last in the bar with a Guinness in hand!

Coach Clarky 🗣️
A true Wheats legend, Fish embodies everything this club stands for. He leads from the front, gives everything for the badge, and is the kind of captain every club dreams of having—always putting the Wheats before himself.

Liam McCrea continues as our Club Captain for the coming season 🤩 a true Wheats legend who is well loved at the whole club.

A powerful ball carrying prop on the pitch and true gent off it! Liam reached 200 games for the club in our final league game of last season. He was named Clubman of the Year last season too! No one better to be our Club Captain 💙

Coach Clarky 🗣️
As club captain, Liam is the epitome of what Wheats is all about. He leads by example, demands the best from those around him and always puts the club first. Whether it’s on the pitch, in the clubhouse or supporting the next generation with the Mini Wheats, he’s there. He’s not just a first-team player – he’s a whole-club person.

BIG NEWS 🤩

Kerry Proctor to stay on as Head Physio for the coming season 💙 a great physio but a better person to have around our club!

The lads have certainly kept her busy over the last 3 seasons and no doubt for this coming season! She knows her stuff and knows how to keep the boys in check 😂

🤩 HEAD COACH | 2026/27 🤩

We’re delighted (and let’s be honest… not surprised! 😉) to announce that Steve Clarke will continue as Wheats Head Coach for the 2026/27 season. 💙💛

Entering his 4th season as a Wheat (and 3rd consecutive season as Head Coach), Clarky has been a huge part of driving the club forward both on and off the field.

An outstanding coach, a great mate and someone who lives and breathes everything Wheats. There simply isn’t anyone we’d rather have leading the boys into another season.
