Good evening, we at Jaguar Bowls Club Coventry are so very pleased and proud to announce that these fine gentlemen in the picture, namely Martin Roberts, Rich Kilgour, Kev and Keith Youson won the highly prestigious Pat Fulham Trophy yesterday. It was a tough battle vs Three Spires, winning by one shot, but as they say, it doesn't matter how you win these as long as you do. Now Mr Roberts pulled a double shift yesterday at the Cov and District Finals, playing in the pairs final with Daz DFrancis Pensom ultimately coming up short, but still an amazing effort to make the final against the home team of Avenue, having beaten the winners and the finalists from last season on their way to making the final so a fantastic outing, especially as it's Dazs' first time playing Cov and District pairs.

It's an awesome advertisement for our little club, and you too could be a part of this. So come along and have a go, or call the number on the poster for more details, and you could be playing along with finalists and champions here at the Jag Bowls Club.

Good evening, tonight we here at Jaguar Bowls Club our proud to announce that 2 of our members, Martin Roberts on the left and Daz DFrancis Pensom on the right have made it into the final of the Cov and District Pairs this afternoon in tremendous heat, to join Martin, Kev, Keith and Rich K who made it to the Pat Fulham Final on finals day at the Avenue. Really proud of the lads, to say we have had a good few weeks is some understatement.

Good morning peeps of our fair city. My my is this weather on a hot streak or what. It's been tough going both greenkeeping wise and playing wise too. So where to start, we have a brand new poster, and I have to say it does grab your attention, but I'm biased really😏, what do you all think of it? Eye catching indeed. Now on to other club business. As I said the green keeping crew have done an amazing job to keep our lovely piece of paradise as bowler friendly as possible in really difficult weather conditions, and I have to say they have done a brilliant job led as always by the legendary Martin Roberts. So we'll done to Derek, Vince, Jim and Daz along with anyone else who I've missed out, superstars all. Speaking of Mr Roberts, not only is he leading the green team, but he alongside Rich Kilgour and the twins Kev and Keith Youson have made The Pat Fulham Trophy final, a prestigious tournament that we as a club enter every year along with a couple of other comps. To say that this really modest sized club is in a final such as this brings a real buzz of excitement to us all, so congratulations lads, you are all winners already and I know you will do the club proud come the 23rd and bring that trophy back home with you. Speaking of competitions the club comps are progressing to their conclusions with some first time semi finalists hoping to make the big day in September. We have a pair in the semi finals of the Cov and District pairs competition which is an awesome success, and the leagues are reaching their finish too, with some fascinating results along the way. And our Saturday friendlies are played in the spirit in which they are intended, with laughter and joy, a little bit of light ribbing but at the end of it, the friendships are there for all to see and it's wonderful to be a part of it. This past Sunday was the ladies gala, and I have to say it was very warm but an enjoyable day with some great bowling but most importantly another example of why lawn bowls is the greatest sport in the world for socialising both on and off the green. Well done to all that we're involved and those that donated raffle prizes a massive Jag Thank You.

Good morning you lovely people. Last evening we here at Jaguar Bowls Club Coventry hosted the county mixed pairs quarter finals. It's testament to Martin Roberts and his green keepers that we get these types of fixtures and for the club as a whole it is brilliant.
Some fantastic heads of bowls for us to watch and it was really nice to see so many of our members coming out to watch too.

Good morning, your friendly neighbourhood bowler here with some more news of Jaguar Bowls Club Coventry. Well where to start, I think summer has definitely arrived, the green has suffered in the heat but the green crew deal with this with the spirit of loving, tender warriors and it still bowls beautifully so well done Martin Roberts, and his team Del, Jim, Vince, Geoff, you are all gold standard blokes. Also the starlings make light work of bugs and grubs on the green, we have hired them on a day by day basis, and require little prompting and payment is as many bugs as they want. It is an amazing sight seeing the range of wildlife we have here at the Jag, just another reason I love this sport and greenkeeping too. As for the bowling, well the Saturday friendlies are a splendid form of socialising and great fun for all of us, especially after when we sit down and eat and drink, so thanks to all ladies that do food on a Saturday, we get to play with some amazing people who are always ready with a tale or 2 to tell, and we get to play at some fantastic clubs too. The atmosphere on the Saturday games is so relaxed you almost forget there is a game to played. Results never matter on a Saturday as long as we all smile and enjoy the day, we are all winners. That is not to say there isn't competitive games, my oh my we do. The club competitions is where to start on this, our esteemed competition secretary Richard Kilgour has done wonders this year, assisted by Jenny Harris, already some cracking results and our newer bowlers are not only taking part, but are shining on the green, it is really good to see. The Wednesday league for the men over 55, of which I'm reliably informed on despite not playing in as not old enough, yet😛, is going well. Some very interesting results along the way too. The Ladies have finally started their truncated season, but they too haven't been hanging around, taking part in Saturday friendlies and the club comps to keep their hands and heads sharp. Along the way, there have been some National, County and Cov and District games being played and very pleasing to hear of the lads and ladies doing the business in some very difficult heat. The Monday night league is also well under way, in fact approaching the halfway point and as it's a competition I am playing in I can tell you, without a shadow of a doubt in my mind, it is hard work but so enjoyable to be part of. I have posted the latest table so you can see in a very competitive league we are doing OK, mid table is very respectable, despite some, shall we say interesting results 😁. A big shout out goes to Emma Pensomsmih, who not only takes the pics you see on these posts, but also feeds the men with delicious sausage batches after the games at home on a Monday night. I can honestly say that after the game, they are a most welcome sight.

I other news, one of our members has been selected to take part in a Bowls England photoshoot at Royal Leamington Spa on the 13th of July. Now, rightly so, he has had some good natured ribbing and he has taken it all in his stride, but he is very proud of the opportunity and we in turn are pleased for him.

Good afternoon lovely folk of our fair city, my apologies for not posting in a while, lack of time in the day when bowling and green keeping here at Jaguar Bowls Club Coventry. But I'm back with a fair bit of news so here goes....

Let's start with the weather which apart from the odd week of heat has been very, shall we say wet. It has helped the green stay green and as you can see from the pics our problem areas are getting much more grass, so much that our esteemed head green keeper Martin Roberts, whose cartoon likeness is there for all to see, has said it is now 'bowlable'. I think I've just made up a new word 🤣🤣. But yes we are very proud of our green here and the wet stuff is helping, but we would like a nice dry spell now please. The moss, which has affected 99% of bowls clubs is getting less by the week. So well done Mr Roberts and his team of volunteers Derek, Geoff, Vince, Jim and Daz and all that do a bit.

When the weather has been dry, there has been some bowling going on. The Saturday friendlies are played with laughter and enjoyment all round. We have had some mixed results, but it really is about the social side on a Saturday, and that really shines through on the green and when we break bread after. The club competitions are under way, and already there have been some really tight games and some really talented shots being played. The Wednesday league for the lads is going well with some cracking results along the way, and the ladies kick off their league very soon, but while waiting they have been keeping match fit by playing on the Saturday friendlies and playing their comps and galas, talking of which the ladies gala here at the Jag is always a social highlight, and I for one am looking forward to being part of the day in August.
The Monday Night League is also underway and as you can see from the league table, we are doing very well in a highly competitive league, Martin Roberts runs that for us and I have to say as a first time participant myself, it's a blast, tough but so much fun. So well done to all that take part in that, and especially the women that do the food, Emma, Linda, Irene. Superstars all.

This summer is a massive summer of sport, with the small matter of The World Cup and Wimbledon of course, but we here at the Jaguar are really excited for The Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, specifically the bowls that has been selected as one of the few sports at this year's smaller but no less exciting games. To coincide with this, bowls clubs up and down the UK are opening their doors to you, the great people for The Bowls Big summer event. Hello people of Coventry. So it's been a busy couple of weeks here at Jaguar Bowls Club Coventry with a couple of away friendly games to navigate. But this week, my I have to say it's good to be back home. So this past Tuesday the Men had their first Monday Night League game, a Knockout Cup match against our friends from Stoke Phoenix, close game but alas we couldn't quite get the result we were hoping for, but well done all for perseverance and determined play in quite chilly weather. One of our members is also in National action today playing in the prestigious Champion of Champions, Chris Buchanan, we are so very proud of you. While Chris is off representing the Jag in the Champion of Champion game, the rest of us played a friendly against more of our friends from another club, Corley. Again another close game played in tremendous spirit, and the weather was really good too. The green was amazing to play on, even if my game was a bit off 😂😂😂. So thanks go to the crew led by Martin Roberts who do an amazing job every week to keep us playing on a great surface. Also thanks go to Chris Smitten and John Wale for selecting teams. Thanks also go to Emma Pensomsmih for the amazing photos that really do show our fantastic sport and awesome people in a great way. And to all the ladies that do the food every home game, you all do amazing work so a massive thank you to you all. This week lots going on with more games on Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday away to Corley. Also work continues to make our green and surrounds the best we can and I think the team do a grand job.

Good evening, so it's official, the 2026 season is well under way and we here at Jaguar Bowls Club Coventry are very excited as to what this season brings. As you can see from the pictures we had an awesome turnout for our first "fixture", a game amongst ourselves. Before the game we held a minutes silence for our dear friend and fellow bowler Jo Vitols who sadly passed away. I'm really proud of this fine club for honouring Jo the way we did, and I'm sure that she would of loved yesterday.

As I said at the start we are well and truly under way now with fixtures coming quick before the month is through, club friendlies against Sphinx and our memorial day coming up. The ladies start their Wednesday fixtures a week on Wednesday. Then with May the Men start their Wednesday league games and the Monday Night league along side our regular Saturday friendlies and Club Competitions so lots to keep us going for a while 😂😂😂.

Good afternoon folks, so with April now here, lots has been done at Jaguar Bowls Club Coventry, ready for our first game tomorrow. The green has been verticut, cut and treated, still a bit of moss on the green but it's getting less everyday. Bowls really well, so the ground staff have really outdone themselves. Our VIB area is ready to receive weary workers and bowlers alike, chippings all around to make it look tidy, and I think you will agree, it looks great. Our sticks have a new home as you can see. All in all the crew have done amazing as always, and I for one cannot wait to get the season started.

We are always looking for new members to join our lovely club, it really does not matter about your age, background or ability. All are welcome to join, so whether you have a sporting history and would like to try a more sedate sport, or you have never played a sport in your life. Young or slightly more advanced in age it really does not matter. Our membership price is still very competitive, and our bar is always stocked up on game days 😁😁😁.

I can promise one thing, there is never a dull game of bowls, the stories and laughs we have is, I guarantee, the best thing about playing bowls.
