Our first 'Golfing in the footsteps Friday' where we profile the legendary players that have graced our fairways and for our first post we are delighted to share with you a video sent to us by Sam Torrance.

Sam kindly shared a few memories from when he played our course in the Piccadilly Medal in 1976. We were called Finham Park back then and Sam won the event, which would be his first of an incredible 21 on the European Tour.

Sam went on to appear in eight Ryder Cups, sinking the winning putt in 1985 and winning four times as a player before captaining Europe to victory in 2002. Sam also had a stellar Senior career, topping the European Senior Tour Order of Merit multiple times.

We'd like to thank Sam for being so generous with his time to share some memories with us.

Starting on Friday we are kicking off a brand new series on social media, ‘Golfing in the footsteps Friday’.

Each Friday we will feature golfing legends that have graced our fairways. Profiling what they achieved in the sport we love and giving an insight on how they played our course.

Just over 50 years ago we hosted the final of our Piccadilly Medal tournaments, a series that brought together some of the greatest names in golf and we hosted our ‘Legends event’ in May which was a wonderful celebration of the heritage of our club.
