Sometimes algorithms don’t catch up with your current situation. Last night I played off minus 7 against a much younger and fitter member of the A squad because the algorithm thinks I’m still the bowler that I was in my 50’s!! No, algorithm I’m 78 now!! (I lost!!)

So, today, we’re very near Worthing. It brought back so many happy memories of pre-Leamington days!!

DEFINING “GETTING CLOSE”
Much is made of getting your first two bowls close, in any form of the game.
To me “close” is within the “scoring zone” - i.e. a radius of 2 feet from the jack.

There are some people that it’s a pleasure to lose to!!! Losing to Colin Jacox in the County Singles 21-18, after a cracking game last night, was one of those times. We’ve been bowls’ partners for over 30 years and every game against each other is nip-and-tuck. Go Jakie!!!!!

SOME VERY ENCOURAGING FEEDBACK ON THE “GREG GRIP”:
I spotted your Greg’s grip post on the page I admin for my bowls club. Today I gave it a red hot crack with my XG’s on my club’s 2nd green that runs about 15-16 seconds. I did take to it rather quickly and got some great consistency out of the hand and at the head. I’ve recently ordered a set of Drakes Pride Conquest size 4 so I’ll be interested in how that grip will work with them.

A bumper day for book sales today! One off to South Africa as a PDF; 3 off to Cambridgeshire; and 1 collected in person by a Coventry bowler.
