After recently visiting two local golf courses simply to enjoy a round of golf as a visitor, use the practice facilities and spend some time in the clubhouse, both experiences stood out for all the right reasons.
And the interesting thing is, none of it was complicated.
1. Easy to book
2. Simple check-in on arrival with a friendly welcome
3. Good access to practice facilities, the Pro Shop and clubhouse
4. Food and drinks available throughout the day
5. A busy golf course, yet the round was completed in under four hours
6. A warm welcome back in the clubhouse afterwards
7. Staff and members genuinely asking whether we had enjoyed our day
There are obviously many different elements involved in running a successful golf club, but creating a great customer experience doesn’t always require significant investment.
Sometimes it comes down to getting the basics right: good operational procedures, a clear customer journey, friendly staff and making people feel welcome from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave.
Those things cost very little — but they can make a huge difference to whether a visitor wants to come back.
