Exercise Supporting Neurodivergent Brains
with Jo McMeechan, Highly Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist, Founder of SENStory
Movement isn't just physical, it's sensory processing in action. In this talk, Jo will unpack why exercise matters for neurodivergent brains and bodies, including the sensory systems behind regulation, engagement and focus, and the very real reasons our kids can find it hard to access.
We'll cover the increased incidence of joint hypermobility, EDS and sensory-motor differences in neurodivergent children (think toe walking, clumsiness, avoiding activity), what to look out for, what actually helps, and simple, low intensity ways to build movement into everyday life. Jo will also touch on why this matters for neurodivergent parents too, not just our kids.
Expect practical, honest, no-nonsense guidance from 20+ years working with neurodivergent children and families, with plenty of time at the end for your questions.
