Next up for new sailors at CRSC: The Harbour Cup on Sunday 13 September! This exciting day of racing is open to Cookham Reach Sailing Club members who have never won a club series race before. There’s no age requirement or restriction, and it should be a fun afternoon for all! We’ll start the racing at 11am, break for a bring-your-own picnic lunch, then have two more races in the afternoon. No registration fee (entry is free!); members should express interest via WhatsApp.

Following the racing, members and their guests are invited to a BBQ featuring live music from Reading’s Rebels Without a Chord and opening act The Janglers. Bring your own dinner, members, and support the club by buying drinks at the bar! The BBQ will begin at 4pm and wrap up by 9pm. We hope to see you there!

Last week we had our RYA certificated sailing course, welcoming back five sailors from our Towards the Water group, plus an additional six young sailors! Of those participating, two had never sailed before and two came in at level one. These sailors ranged in age from 9-16, and we had both club members and non-club members. The course culminated at Oxford Training Centre on Frogmore Lake, where they were put through their paces and finished certificated.

A huge thanks to the many volunteers and instructors who made these courses a success! We are so grateful!

What a great two weeks of sailing instruction we’ve just had at Cookham Reach Sailing Club! The last week of July it was Towards the Water, where 10 young sailors who had never sailed before came out to earn certificates and have a wonderful time. None of these lovely young people were members of CRSC (yet?), and we are so glad they and their families joined us for this very positive experience.

Thank you to everyone who made it out for the Wallace Trophy today! Congratulations to our winner, Martin Evans, who retains the Wallace Cup for the second year, and to and Andrew Boxer, who came in 2nd. Special thanks to Si Lewis and Cara Ivers for capturing photos today. 🏆
