Congrats to Arlene Boyles who joins Eilish, Donna and Shirley in the Belfast City Council Hall of Fame

Our second inductee has played for Pegasus Hockey Club from the age of 13, her talent being recognised by her school hockey coach and Pegasus member Jane Thompson. An integral part of the Pegasus squad which secured eight Irish Senior Cups, four All-Ireland Club Championship wins, numerous Ulster league and Ulster Shield titles and European competitions. She coached Pegasus to become All Ireland Club Champions in 2015 and subsequently in Europe the following year. Arlene amassed 123 caps as a player for the Ireland senior squad.

Following her successful playing career, she became part of the national setup in 2010, as assistant coach since 2012, acting as manager from 2017 for 121 capped games, her mentoring is considered to have been a key influence by many of the Women’s players in their rise to World Cup silver and Olympic qualification. Arlene Boyles was awarded Honorary Life Membership of Hockey Ireland in 2020. Currently she is Pegasus HC President, continuing to shape future players and promote her love of all things Pegasus and hockey.
