The competition will run across 9 Friday nights, followed by a dedicated Finals Night to crown our first Affinia Masters champions! 🏆

This is an open competition and all bowlers are welcome to enquire. We’re hoping to attract a great mix of players from outside the club too and create a competitive but enjoyable Friday night atmosphere at the club.

We think this is a great concept and should make for a brilliant event, with the Aussie Pairs format bringing something a little different to the indoor season.

Live music at CIBC! Join us on Wednesday 16th September, 2:30–4:30pm, as we welcome the Abbeygate Concert Band for an afternoon concert. £5pp covers a light buffet during the interval. Refreshments and a raffle too — put your name on the list on the social board in the lobby to secure your place!

BRENDA PEARCE-HIGGINS

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Pearce-Higgins, who passed away on Thursday 30th July.

Brenda had been a valued member of Colchester Indoor Bowls Club since 2008. Over the years, she became a familiar and much-loved face around the club, and her friendship and presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Our sincere condolences go to Brenda's family and friends during this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements will be announced as soon as they are available.

SUE BOHN

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sue Bohn, who passed away on 17th July.

Sue had been a valued member of Colchester Indoor Bowls Club since 2021 and was a familiar and friendly face around the club. She will be fondly remembered by fellow members, and her presence will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Sue's funeral service will be held on Thursday 13th August at 11:30am at the United Reformed Church, Tiptree.

On behalf of everyone at Colchester Indoor Bowls Club, we extend our sincere condolences to Sue's family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

May she rest in peace.

🏏 FULL TIME | T20 FRIENDLY 🏏

A brilliant evening of cricket at Abberton as Colchester Indoor Bowls Club took on Abberton & District Cricket Club in another fantastic biennial fixture.

Despite a spirited effort, CIBC fell just short, finishing 135 all out in reply to Abberton’s impressive 167/6, with the hosts claiming a 32-run victory. Wickets from Bradley Mann, Ross Soteriou, Martin Hogg and Andy Smith 🤯 yes you heard that right Andy Smith got a wicket.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support, to Abberton for their outstanding hospitality, and to everyone who stayed for the BBQ afterwards. The result may not have gone our way, but the spirit, sportsmanship and laughs made it another memorable evening.

RACE NIGHT AT Colchester Indoor Bowls Club

Time: 6:45pm for a 7:00pm start
Entry: £8 per person

Your choice of a bacon, sausage or veggie bap

The evening is being held in aid of new scoreboards, so come along, enjoy the racing and help support the club.

Spread the word — our Open Day is coming up!

Hi everyone! We're holding an Open Day on Saturday 12th September, 10am – 4pm, and we'd love your help getting the word out.

If you know anyone who's ever fancied trying bowls — a neighbour, a friend, a family member — this is the perfect chance for them to come along, have a go, and see what our club is all about. No experience needed, and it's completely free to try. Anyone aged 8 and up is welcome, so it's a great one for the whole family. (anyone under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by an adult)

We'll have coaching on hand, all six rinks open for a taster, and our bar and dining room open too, so there's plenty to enjoy even if bowls isn't for them! There's free on-site parking as well, so it's an easy visit.

We've been part of the Colchester community since 1982, and the best way to keep that going is through members like you telling people about us. So please do share this post, tag a friend, or just mention it to someone next time you're in — every introduction helps.

EDDIE HAWKINS
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Hawkins, who passed away on Monday, 6 July.

Eddie had been a valued member of Colchester Indoor Bowls Club since 2013 and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Eddie's family and friends at this difficult time.

Eddie's funeral service will take place on Monday 27th July at 1:30pm at Three Counties Crematorium, Halstead Road, High Garrett, Braintree, CM7 5PB.

Following the service, everyone is warmly invited to join Eddie's family and friends for the wake at Braintree Bowling Club, from 2:00pm.

As this is a celebration of Eddie's life, the family kindly requests that those attending wear bright and colourful clothing.
