After a disappointing washout yesterday, we're hoping for better weather today as Boxted host Leavenheath Cricket Club at Cage Lane for the return leg of our friendly fixtures this season.

Jon Jones bought up his century of wickets last week as the First XI kept survival hopes alive with a dominant performance against East Bergholt.

Losing the toss and being put into the field, early wickets from Will Cosham (3/13 off 8 Overs) allowed for a strong start. But after Jonesy (6/10 off 9 Overs) had been given the ball, the game was all but over; skittling the remaining batters for 85.

In response, the runs were shared out with Michael Dell top scoring with 29(41), as the First XI chased the total down in 20 Overs and concluded their final home game with 20 points.

The First XI made it two dominant wins from two as they beat Yoxford last Saturday following the Mildenhall victory.

Rob Evans (90 off 89 balls) got the First XI off to another incredible start along with Sourav Sen Gupta (50 off 83 balls) whose 132-run opening stand was the clubs best partnership of the season.

With Boxted setting Yoxford 220 to win, the visitors were put under early pressure as Will Cosham struck twice with the new ball. From 72/2, Paul Bellehewe produced a superb spell of 5/5 from 6.0 overs, while Jon Jones claimed 3/9 from 8.5 overs, as Yoxford collapsed to 80 all out. The emphatic win secured another valuable 20 points in our fight for survival.

A huge congratulations to Steve Philpott on reaching the incredible milestone of 10,000 1st team runs for the club! 🏏🏆

This makes him the 2nd highest all time runs scorer for Boxted. 👏
