After weeks of planning, organising and bringing so many amazing people together, today we finally get to do it!

Today, Tekkers Vets take on the England Vets in a very special match, all in aid of Audrey. 💚

We want to start by saying a massive thank you to Audrey’s family for allowing us to be part of this special day and for everything they have done throughout the build-up.

A huge thank you also goes to the England Vets for getting behind the cause and giving up their time to make this match happen. And of course, a massive thank you to everyone at Harwich & Parkeston FC for helping organise, host and bring this incredible event together. 🙌

Most importantly, today isn’t just about football. It’s about coming together as a community, raising money, showing support and creating some amazing memories for Audrey and her family. ❤️

The countdown is nearly over! Just 2 days to go until Tekkers CFC Vets take on England Vets in what promises to be an incredible afternoon at Harwich & Parkeston FC.

But this event is about so much more than football. We’re coming together to raise money for Audrey, who has Usher syndrome, and to help her complete her Visual Bucket List — making memories and experiencing the things she dreams of while she is still able to experience them.

And we’ve got plenty going on throughout the day! Alongside what promises to be a fantastic football match, we’ll have a live DJ, ice cream van, bouncy castle, raffle and much, much more! 🎶🍦🏰🎟️

🐐 MATCHDAY 4 — THE HERD ARE BACK! ⚽

It’s Matchday 4 in the Essex & Suffolk Border League Division 2, and the lads head into Saturday’s fixture full of confidence after picking up a well-earned win last weekend.

Now the challenge is to build on that result and keep the momentum going. We’re still very much at the beginning of our first-ever campaign at this level, but every game is another opportunity to learn, improve and compete — and the boys will be looking to put another three points on the board.

A much better afternoon for the Goats as we got ourselves back to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Frinton & Walton, bouncing back from last week’s disappointing draw.

It was a special day for Dan Bradley, who grabbed his first goal for Tekkers Community FC to bring us level on the hour mark. With the game finely poised, Chris Johnson produced a superb finish in the 80th minute to secure all three points and send the lads home with a deserved win.

Plenty of positives to take from the performance, but we know there’s still more to come as we continue to build. Attention now turns to Saturday, where we travel to West Bergholt looking to build on today’s result and keep the momentum going.

This Sunday, we come together for a very special event as Tekkers Vets take on England Vets, all in support of Audrey and her visual bucket list. Audrey lives with Usher syndrome, and this day is all about helping her create as many amazing memories and experiences as possible while enjoying life to the fullest. 💚

And it’s going to be much more than just a football match! ⚽️ There’ll be bouncy castles, an ice cream van, live music, a raffle and much, much more throughout the day, making it a fantastic family day out for everyone. 🎶🍦🎟️

💚⚽️ THE CAUSE 💚⚽️

Audrey was diagnosed with Usher Syndrome Type 2A at the age of 10, following genetic testing to understand the cause of the hearing loss she had lived with since birth.

Audrey was born with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and has worn hearing aids since she was just six weeks old. Genetic testing carried out through Great Ormond Street Hospital identified faulty USH2A genes as a possible cause of her hearing loss. Following this, further appointments and assessments at Moorfields Eye Hospital confirmed that Audrey has Usher Syndrome Type 2A.

Usher Syndrome is a rare genetic condition which affects both hearing and sight and, in some cases, balance. For Audrey, the condition means that alongside her lifelong hearing loss, she is now also gradually losing her full vision. By the time she was diagnosed at age 10, she was already experiencing night blindness.

The sight loss associated with Usher Syndrome Type 2A is caused by a condition called retinitis pigmentosa. Over time her peripheral vision will gradually disappear, creating what is often described as tunnel vision. Eventually, this will lead to significant sight loss. We don't know how quickly this will happen for Audrey, or how many years of full daytime vision she has ahead of her.

That uncertainty is what led our family to her creating her visual memories wish list

Rather than focusing on what Audrey may lose in the future, we want to focus on everything she can still see, experience and enjoy now. Her wish list is made up of the places she wants to visit, things she wants to see and experiences she wants to have while she still has her full vision.

Every penny raised for Audrey’s Visual Memories Fund goes directly towards helping her tick those experiences off her list and create memories that she will carry with her for the rest of her life.

For us, this isn't about creating extraordinary experiences simply for the sake of it. It is about making the most of the precious window of 'visual' time Audrey has now — allowing her to see the world, experience new things and make memories while she still can.
