UKATA sets standards in asbestos training and ensures that its members meet those standards. https: UKATA provides a quality standard for that training.

It is legal requirement that all who may come across asbestos in their day to day work have been provided with asbestos awareness training. If they will intentionally work on asbestos they must have had appropriate training specific to the tasks they will undertake. Any organisation that allows builders or maintenance personnel onto their premises should ensure that they have evidence of asbestos

HSE is carrying out a review of the Personal Protective Equipment at Work (Amendment) Regulations 2022 (PPER 22).

In 2022, the provision of PPE in the workplace changed when the Personal Protective Equipment at Work (Amendment) Regulations came into effect and meant that employers had to provide suitable PPE to all workers equally.

By completing this survey, you can help shape Health and Safety Executive ’s understanding of how the regulations are working, including any benefits or practical challenges you have experienced.

HSE is conducting a statutory review of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012). This review is separate to the recent consultation but is using the evidence collected during that time. They are seeking views and information in 2 surveys:

Review of the CAR 2012: Identifying presence of asbestos before any work commences
Review of CAR 2012: Asbestos Surveyors

Your feedback will help Health and Safety Executive build a better understanding of how the CAR 2012 work in practice.

The surveys close at 11:59pm on 16 September 2026.
