Friendly Chepstow v Caldicot
In light of the unexpected and sorrowful news of the passing of our cherished Sylvia Pensom last week, we held a moment of silence before the game. The club flag is currently flying at half-mast and will remain so throughout the week. We played today in her memory and I think she would have been proud of our efforts.
A lovely afternoon of bowls with our friendly against local rivals Caldicot. Chepstow won on all 4 rinks with 72-47. Well played Chepstow!
As ever there are a few people to thank, Mary, Mary and Elizabeth. My thanks also to Jim for setting the 4 rinks.
Thank you for your continued support for the friendly fixtures.

It was a beautiful sunny afternoon filled with great company and some expert bowling on display. Ten couples competed in this exciting event, expertly organised by Lynn and Mike Windgrove.
We were also thrilled to welcome Janice, Margaret's daughter, to present the trophy.

๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐!
Last weekโs South Wales and Mon match postponed because of the heat - this week we find ourselves at Panteg House with the rain sweeping down the mountain!
Angela, Pat, Jan and Chris played a consistently accurate game, scoring on 13 of the 18 ends played. They pushed their score up to 20, which probably matched the number of times waterproofs were put on, taken off, and put on again!
On the 5 occasions that Panteg House got โin on the act,โ they snatched some singles and a couple of 2โs.
Two teams of good players: a harsh defeat for Panteg House, who took it with such good grace. Post match, I heard them comment: โthey were a really good team, and played so well!โ
Such a lovely compliment to you all!
Final score: 20-7.
Margaret, Chrissie, Meryl and Sue stormed through the first 8 ends, pausing only forโฆyes, you guessed it: waterproofs on, waterproofs off!
Picking up 5 shots on the 5th end, they were quickly into double figures. There may be another downpour but we were looking good!
Just as quickly, this became a game of 2 halves. Panteg House picking up 10 shots in 6 ends: an uncomfortable score of 15-13.
Tense moments during the final 4 ends. A couple of 2โs and Chepstow breathed again at 19-15. The final end to play. A great effort by Panteg House: yet again we held our breath, stood so,so still as the 3rds were agreeing shots. Phew! Chepstow held their leadโฆ final score: 19-18.
