Running isn't just about getting fitter or running faster. The benefits can reach far beyond physical health. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Here are 5 reasons to run beyond fitness:
🧠 Clear your mind – A run can give you valuable time to switch off and reset.
😌 Manage stress – Getting outside and moving your body can be a great way to break up a busy day.
πŸ’ͺ Build confidence – Every run, milestone and challenge you overcome can give you a real sense of achievement.
🀝 Connect with others – From Hub Classes to local running groups and races, running can introduce you to a fantastic community.
🎯 Create purpose – Having a goal to work towards can give structure and motivation to your week.

Your running journey doesn't have to be about pace, distance or PBs. Sometimes, simply getting out there is the win.

You've crossed the finish line, congratulations! Now it's time to give your body the recovery it deserves.

Proper recovery is just as important as your training. Taking time to rest, rehydrate and refuel helps your body repair, reduces the risk of injury and prepares you for your next challenge.

A few simple recovery tips:
βœ”οΈ Drink plenty of water.
βœ”οΈ Eat a balanced meal with protein and carbohydrates.
βœ”οΈ Get plenty of sleep.
βœ”οΈ Ease back into running with gentle movement and easy runs.
βœ”οΈ Listen to your body and don't rush the process.

Whether you've completed a marathon, half marathon or your first race, smart recovery is the key to long-term progress.

Have you ever gone out for an "easy" run, only to find it feels anything but easy?

You're not alone.

Easy runs are an essential part of any training plan, but many runners make the mistake of running them too fast. The purpose of an easy run is to build your aerobic fitness, aid recovery and prepare your body for harder training sessions not to chase a personal best.

Remember:
πŸƒ Run at a pace where you can comfortably hold a conversation.
πŸ’™ Don't compare your easy pace to anyone else's.
⏱️ Focus on consistency rather than speed.
πŸ’ͺ Trust that the slower miles are helping you become a stronger runner.

Sometimes, slowing down is exactly what your body needs to move forwards.

Want a training plan that takes the guesswork out of running? Get in touch with RunVive Coaching today and let's build a plan that works for you.

Kicking off July was the Pigum ultra and our Stronger Together runners (a collaboration with Into Ultra to support first time ultra runners). Wrapping up an incredible six months, they completed their goals *and* are planning their next ultras - project officially successful. πŸŽ‰

They weren't alone though - S&C client Leanne ran her first ultra (and then ran Porthcawl 10k the day after 🀯) while Bron completed her second – picking up a marathon PB in the process. πŸ…

Ben D and Ben SJ had cracking trail debuts, finishing 4th and 5th overall in the Pigum half. πŸ†πŸ† They had a busy month, as Ben D took 5 mins off his PB at Magor 10k, while Ben SJ did the double – breaking 36 mins at Magor 10k and 17:30 SSAFA 5k a few days prior. πŸ…πŸ…πŸ… Huge well done lads!

Magor saw George nail his run in the midst of tri training, while our very own superwoman Lou completed her first β€œtriathlon” at Outlaw. Unfortunately the swim was replaced by an extra run, but learning two extra disciplines on top of running and life - massive congrats Lou, you're awesome πŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈ

Ben L kicked off ultra training with a hilly 10k race in Shrewsbury, and Keri finished strongly in her first race in a while at the Wye Tunnel 10k. πŸ‘πŸ‘At Porthcawl, Jen beat her target goal by 4 mins 🌟, while PB queen Lorraine added another 5km and 10km PB to her tally. πŸ…

Relay season continued – with Ash, George, Laura taking on the Cotswolds hills, while Sarah, and past and present S&C clients Grace, Tom and Jon nailed the dunes of the Rabbit Run relay. πŸŽ‰

Dewi and I had fun at RunSwimRun (me slightly more as I caught the ferry across the river Wye, while Dewi did it properly and swam)πŸ›Ÿ. He followed this with a super consistent run at the Viaduct 5 mile race πŸ†

Finishing as we began, at Race to the Stones, Alex P, Hayley and Borja all completed their first ultras - a massive achievement, particular in 30+ degree heat, while I moaned my way around the 100k. Seriously - hot. πŸŽ‰πŸ«

This week is a big one for me - as RunVive turns TWO! πŸŽ‚πŸŽŠπŸŽˆA huge thank you to everyone who has supported me - you runners and S&Cers make RunVive what it is. 🫢You are all, frankly, brilliant. Roll on year three...

One of the best parts of being a running coach isn't just seeing runners cross the finish line, it's watching the journey that gets them there.

Every runner has their own story, goals and challenges. Whether it's completing a first 5K, training for a marathon, returning after injury or simply building confidence, being able to support that journey is what makes coaching so rewarding.

There's nothing better than celebrating those milestones together and seeing hard work turn into real progress. Every achievement, no matter how big or small, deserves to be recognised.

If you're looking for personalised coaching, expert guidance and someone to support you every step of the way, I'd love to help you reach your running goals.
