Huge congratulations to Lucas and Millie on a brilliant day at the National Open Water Championships in Rother Valley Country park Sheffield!
Lucas stepped up from 5k at regionals to tackle a massive 7.5k, and absolutely smashed it in a time of 1:50:32 — picking up new open water skills along the way like pacing, drafting and feeding from a pole. Incredible step up in distance and a real testament to his development as a swimmer! 👏
Millie qualified off the back of a great 3k at regionals and asked to be stepped up again — this time to a tough 5k in windy conditions. She dug deep and showed serious stamina, finishing just 1 second off her nearest competitor in a time of 1:28:29. What a race! 🔥
So proud of both of you for pushing outside your comfort zones and taking on distances way beyond normal pool swimming. Open water is a different beast entirely, and you both rose to the challenge brilliantly.
Well done Lucas and Millie — the whole club is proud of you!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that two of our talented Cheltenham Swimming & Water Polo Club swimmers have qualified to compete at the National Open Water Swimming Championships, taking place at the stunning Rother Valley Country Park in Sheffield this Saturday.

Lucas Maskrey will be taking on the gruelling 7.5km open water event — a true test of endurance, strength, and mental toughness. Covering that distance in open water is no small feat, and it's a testament to the hours of training he's put in both in the pool.

Millie Higgins will be racing in the 5km open water event, bringing her pace, determination, and race-craft. Open water swimming demands not just fitness but real tactical awareness, and she's more than ready for the challenge.

Both swimmers have shown incredible commitment to reach this level; tough sessions, and the resilience to push through when it hurts. Qualifying for Nationals is a huge achievement in itself, and the whole club couldn't be prouder to see them representing CSWPC on the national stage.

It’s been a very successful weekend for 6 of our CSWPC U16 Girls at the Inter-Regions in Liverpool. Representing South West were Edith, Sophia and Yvie. They produced a very solid performance which saw them through to the Bronze medal match, where they were very narrowly defeated by Scotland. Congratulations to Edith who was awarded South West MVP! Lucy, Alice and Arabella (representing South East) put on an impressive display to reach the Final and fought hard against an unbeaten North West side, ultimately losing to them, but were very proud recipients of the silver medal! Furthermore, Alice was awarded South East MVP! A great weekend all round for CSWPC!

A great day at the Cheltenham Lido full day of games for our senior men and women, then the club BBQ in the evening. What a fantastic venue, thanks to all the staff at the lido and club volunteers who made this possible.

Finally, if you have a swimmer who would like to try Open Water please ask Karl or Dan for more information, it’s a wonderful way to enjoy swimming.
