Big & hot book club! 20 of us, so that posed some challenges...Geoff and I are more prepared for next time and it is a great problem to have. We hope you enjoyed the social chat at the end? Thoughts and ideas warmly welcome...and talking of that, welcome to Anna and Marie Ann; apologies for nearly turning you away and so glad you stayed and provided some great reviews plus the new term "non-ending".

It's Book Club this Thursday (13th)! All welcome, it's free, we have no set book starts at 7 at My Coffee on Bath Road Cheltenham. Fun and social...but my latest publication may get a mention, don't let that put you off...I hardly ever mention my Cheltenham Noir trilogy!

Look what Liz has sent in! Big points for effort in our Race Around the World as this is the historic walled port city of Saint-Malo in Brittany, northern France. Photo is expertly take, as per the book cover, from Liz's yacht (probably)...

My Coffee (our venue) has air-con! so we had a cool evening of chatting about books. We have a book club extra trip to outdoor theatre - I will post about that next. Here are a few of the books we talked about this month. And do come along next month, it's cool!

CBBC's July meeting is this week, Thursday 9th, at My Coffee on the Bath Road, 7-9pm. Should it be too hot in our normal space upstairs we can always consider moving downstairs where there is air conditioning, though we might have to break up into smaller groups due to the seating arrangements.
No set book to read, just bring along any book of your choosing to give a short review, take questions and generally discuss. No fee to attend, just purchase a drink from the bar on your way up.

We have one space in CBBC's quiz team for this Friday at My Coffee should anyone fancy joining us for a sociable, non serious evening of general knowledge.
Topics we have covered are:
British classic cars and computer programme nonsense (Kevin)
Is it a quote from the bible or Shakespeare? and famous serial killers (Clare)
Twelve flags of competing nations in the World Cup (picture round) that are coached by a former Premier League manager (that is the link) and, as a bonus, these managers can be named (Geoff)
So if you feel that you may be able to contribute something else, eg - pop music beyond 1990 or have a Netflix subscription would be most welcome - we would love you to join us.

The Cheltenham Trust is launching a new heritage trail and exhibition today celebrating the lesser known history and stories of the town from its Anglo Saxon origins to the stampeding elephant and first parachute ascent/descent. The launch event is today at The Wilson from 11.30am. Free to attend and includes a hot drink and cake for those attending, so worth popping in should you be in town today. It will be ideal for a Book Club Extra and we will look at getting a date in the diary.

A blue scarf was left behind after last night's meeting, which we will bring along to July's meeting, Thursday 9th.
