🏉 WHY DO WE PRACTICE 3v2? 🧠💪
It might look like a simple attacking drill, but 3v2 is one of the best ways to develop the decision-making skills needed in a real rugby game.
With three attackers against two defenders, our players have to constantly read what’s in front of them 👀
➡️ When do I pass?
➡️ Do I carry the ball?
➡️ Where is the space?
➡️ How do I fix the defender?
➡️ Can I create an opportunity for my teammate?
But it’s not just about the player with the ball. Movement and communication off the ball are just as important. Players need to support the ball carrier, hold their width, identify gaps and communicate what they see.
For the defenders, it’s about communication, organisation and decision-making — working together to shut down the attacking options and force mistakes.
Most importantly, 3v2 helps players develop the ability to make the right decision under pressure, rather than simply following a rehearsed play.
Because when match day comes, the game doesn’t stop and tell you what option to choose…
You have to see it. Communicate it. And make the decision. 🔥

🏆🏏 THE TROPHY IS OURS! 🏏🏆
Well… it happened. Lordswood RFC have beaten Lordswood Cricket Club! 🖤💛
This year, the Cricket Club decided to make it official and very generously went above and beyond to secure us a proper trophy for the occasion🤦🏻♂️
Little did they know… the joke’s on them🤣
Because any trophy is a trophy, and we’ll be taking very good care of this one — in true rugby club fashion🍻🏆😂
Filled with booze.
Drank accordingly.
Trophy treasured. 😉
As always, it was an absolute pleasure to do this with you all again. Two sports, one club and a whole lot of laughs between a group of absolute gentlemen🤝
We genuinely can’t wait to do it all again next year…
Although, if history is anything to go by, you might as well polish the trophy now, because it’s coming back home with us again next year!😉🤣

Movement creates opportunities. Making the right run, supporting the ball carrier and constantly looking for space can open gaps in even the strongest defence🏃♂️
Teamwork turns opportunities into tries. Rugby is never won by one player alone. Every pass, tackle, support line and defensive effort relies on teammates doing their job for each other🤝
Communication keeps everyone connected. Knowing where your teammates are, calling for the ball, organising the defence and making decisions quickly can be the difference between creating something and losing possession🗣️
And just as importantly, awareness OFF the ball. 👀
Some of the most important work in rugby happens when you don’t have the ball. Knowing where the opposition is, recognising space, anticipating what might happen next, supporting a teammate before they even need you and understanding your role in the bigger picture can completely change a phase of play.
A player might not touch the ball once during a move, but their run, positioning or communication could create the space for someone else to break through.
That’s rugby. It’s about seeing the game, not just playing the game.
The best teams don’t just have talented individuals — they move together, communicate together, think together and work for each other.

Tonight, Lordswood RFC is opening its doors to players looking for a new challenge, a fresh start, or simply a club they can call home.
While our Senior Men’s Team and Lordswood Knights Colts (U16s-U18s) will be training alongside each other, each squad will have its own dedicated session, coaches and focus—creating the perfect environment for players to develop at every stage of their rugby journey.
