One of the lovely things about our Friday Pilates class is that we keep it small and friendly.

It means you’re not getting lost at the back of a packed room. Rhianna can get to know you, offer guidance and help you get the most from your class all in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

And if you’re completely new to Pilates, a smaller class can make taking that first step feel a whole lot easier.

🥋 THE DOJO IS CLOSED THIS WEEK… BUT YOUR TRAINING DOESN’T HAVE TO STOP!

A quick reminder that Shi Kon Martial Arts is closed from 29th August – 4th September, reopening on Saturday 5th September.

A week away from the dojo is a great opportunity to do a little practice at home and keep everything fresh.

🥋 Use the feedback you’ve been given in class. Think about the areas your instructor has asked you to work on. Even 10–15 minutes of focused practice can make a difference.

💻 Use our Members Area.
Head over to www.medwaymartialarts.com and use the Members Area as your training tool. You can watch Mike take you through your form, pause the video, go back over sections and practise at your own pace.

👊 Keep it simple. You don’t need a huge amount of space or a full training session. Practise your stances, basics, sections of your form or go over something you’ve recently learnt in class.

And for our younger students, parents can get involved too, ask them to show you what they’ve been learning! It’s a great way for them to reinforce their knowledge and build confidence in remembering their techniques independently.

📸 We’d love to see your home training! Send us a photo or a short video of you practising during the break. We always enjoy seeing our students putting the work in outside of the dojo.

Enjoy the week, keep practising and we’ll see you back on the mats from Saturday 5th September!

Remember, progress doesn’t only happen in class.

Our Kung Fu Kids say this after every class… here’s why 👉🏻

24/08/2026

Children come to learn Kung Fu… but they take away so much more.

As children progress through their training here at Shi Kon, they’re learning martial arts skills that will stay with them for life, but alongside these techniques, something else is developing too.

Focus. Discipline. Confidence. Resilience. Respect.

They learn to listen, to keep trying when something feels difficult, to accept corrections, to practise and improve, and to understand that progress doesn’t always happen straight away. These skills will help them as they grow, at school, at home and wherever life takes them.

Junior Kung Fu Kids | Monday–Friday | 5.30pm

Two FREE taster lessons are available.

Don’t forget.

The dojo and office will be closed from 29th August - 04th September.

🥋 It’s all part of the learning!

Learning how to tie your martial arts belt correctly is an important part of your training journey.

We’ll always help our students in class, but it’s also important to practise at home until you can do it confidently on your own.

We’ve put together a simple how-to video on our YouTube channel that you can follow along with at home.

Parents, this is a great one to practise with your children too!

🎥 I’ll pop the YouTube link in the comments.

Practise, practise, practise… you’ll soon have it! 🥋
