Looby Chubb Equestrian Hi my name is Looby Marsden, I have been riding since I was 7 years old and have always had a passion for horses.

I learnt to ride at Drakes Farm with Mrs Matravers who gave me a brilliant grounding. I then went to ride for several private people helping back, school and compete a variety of horses. I have been working for/training with Ruth & Tony Kuszek since the age of 15 and they have been very influential in my handling and riding of horses. I worked for Rachel Shire for several years and she has also helped me alot and brought on my flat work skills by miles. I have also carried out work experience with Jabeena Masline and Jimmy Frost, spent 10 months in New Zealand working for the top showjumper Ike Unsworth and ridden for International Dressage rider Sally Bell. I am now backing, schooling, competing and teaching for myself. I have successfully ridden to BS Foxhunter, BE90 and BD PSG. I am a fully qualified BHSAI which also means I have my First Aid Certificate, Child Protection Certificate, BHS satges 1,2 &3, PTT exam and attend CPDs yearly. Had such a lovely couple of days at Somerford Park BD National Championships with Sally Bell Dressage & Macho.

A big atmosphere and Macho took it all in his stride. He has grown up so much in the last few outings and shows such promise for the more advanced classes! He gave me a great ride, with just an annoying little mistake costing us marks. But I really couldn't have asked more of him, he stayed relaxed and focused throughout.

A new experience for myself aswell at the Nationals. It's been very inspiring and educational. Massive thanks to Sally for holding my hand and trusting me to ride Macho in his first Nationals.

🥈🥈Great show on Saturday at Chard Equestrian BD on Macho! Last minute rider change and we did the 2 Novice tests, for a 68% & 66.6%. Our best novice score together and a definite improvement.

🥇🥇What a day we had yesterday....Kaboo's first ever ridden show and he absolutely smashed it with 2 wins over 70% 😲🎊💃

He took everything in his stride and produced 2 fantastic tests with cracking scores. He has come an awful long way in the last month and is very exciting for the future!

Credit to his awesome owner Ella Hooper who has put so much work in to prepare Kaboo for this day, what a brilliant job you have done 👏 thankyou for trusting me to take the reins 😁

Thankyou Kings Sedgemoor Equestrian Centre for a fab show as always. And the lovely ladies who came to support us.

The only problem is, we've now set the bar abit high 🤣

🎉💃Yesterday was the day, we FINALLY did our first competition 💃🎉

I didn't feel that Douglas was quite ready, but also felt like I needed to bite the bullet. So we went up to our local venue Chard Equestrian for the unaffiliated dressage and completed two Intro tests - nothing spectacular, I just wanted to get him in the ring.

It was perfect for Douglas, as it was nice and quite and although he was on edge, he behaved incredibly well and got two 67.5% (not sure on placing)! Lots of tension, a couple of spooks, my straight lines weren't particularly straight, my circles weren't particularly round and my free walk we practiced our 🦒 giraffe stance, when he saw some horses being turned out 🤦‍♀️🤣 BUT we were in the ring and we were doing it 💃 The smile on my face at the end halt couldn't have been bigger 😁 I'm very proud of how well he coped and will now continue producing him and building on our partnership 💪

For the first time in a while, I actually feel like we might get there one day 😁🙏

An added bonus, we also managed to load within a couple of minutes 🎉 earlier in the week this took me an hour. Thankyou to the kind Lamberts Castle ladies that tried to help me, you'll be pleased to hear that once everybody had gone and it was quiet he went in 🤦‍♀️

Huge thanks to Sally Bell Dressage for giving up her own lesson on Macho, so that I could have some guidance in preparation for the Nationals! 😘 And Martha Walsh for holding the camera for an hour 🙈 hope your arms aren't too sore today.

P.S. who noticed that my head was wrapped up in white vet wrap? 🤔 I have super small ears and headphones 🎧 will not stay in, so Sally bandaged them onto me and I looked pretty ridiculous, but we all had a good laugh 😆

Now to keep working on what I learnt yesterday over the next 4 weeks and see what we can do 😁

I can't quite believe it, but we're off to the BD National Championships! 💃🎊

Considering I thought the Regionals were too much for Macho, this is a genuine shock! 😲 But I was very excited when I saw we got a wildcard!

Thankyou Sally Bell Dressage for all of your help and encouragement- clearly I need a push in the right direction sometimes 🤣 And no, I'm not bringing my blow up bed this time 🤦‍♀️🤣🤣
