It wasn’t to be today as we exit the Border Cup at the first round following a home defeat to 1A side 1st Bangor. In what was a fairly even game, the visitors found themselves 2-0 up midway through the second half, and despite a goal from Dan following an excellent run by Marty, we’d just left ourselves too much to do.

Back to the league next Saturday as travel to high-flying Saintfield Utd. Kick off 2.00pm. All support welcome.

A good runout for the seconds as they picked up a win against neighbouring Newcastle. A good first half performance set the foundations, with young Brogan grabbing his first senior goals for the club, hopefully the first of many.

It was a good day for Brogan and Mosey as the father & son duo not only took the field together but also found the net. Well done lads 💪

A great result on the road tonight as the firsts make it 4 from 4 in the league. The lads fell behind before a penalty from Ruairi on the stroke of half time brought us in level.

The second half started out as a cagey affair with neither team looking to make a mistake before big Jack popped up to put us into the lead midway through the half.

Both teams had chances after that in an entertaining game and ultimately the boys did what they needed to see the game out and pick up a big 3 points even at this stage of the season.

No rest for the wicket as next up we welcome 1st Bangor to Corrigan Park on Saturday in the Border Cup. KO 2.00pm. All support welcome.

The first team travel to Belfast tonight to take on Bloomfield in what will no doubt prove a testing away fixture. This is the last midweek game of 2026, and the lads will be looking to bounce back from Saturdays disappointing defeat to Knockbreda and maintain their unbeaten start to the league campaign.

Well done to our 2016 players Leo, Brian Og & Cian who represented the club as part of the Lisburn Castlereagh Junior League RTC squad who visited Championship side Bolton Wanderers last weekend.

The boys got to enjoy a training session at the clubs training ground, while they also got to attend the league victory over Preston and take in a tour of the stadium. Young goalkeeper Brian Og even managed to bump into the legend that is Big Sam Allardyce.

A great weekend was had by all and a big thank you to the Lisburn League RTC team and the leagues partnership with Bolton.

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to get involved with our youth section for the upcoming season.

We need coaches/volunteers to help with our boys 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020 age groups, as well as Girls’ coaches for 2013.

With the number of young players involved in the club continuing to grow, we need more coaches to ensure we can continue to facilitate everyone who wants to play.

This is a great opportunity to get involved with your local club, help young players develop and be part of the Castlewellan Town FC family. 💚🖤

It wasn’t to be for our lads today who put in a great shift and will feel very unlucky not to get something from the game, one which the final score certainly doesn’t reflect the balance of play.

The boys started well creating some good openings in the first half before conceding a sucker punch on the break. We continued to push forward hitting the woodwork but were punished for a mistake in defence which let Knockbreda take a 2-0 lead into the second half.

The second half was a much more even affair but we still had our chances and it just turned out to be one of those days. The visitors again punished a mistake to make it 3 midway through the half and end the contest.

Certainly a case of what if today but the game highlighted the importance of taking your chances when they fall to you, and sadly today it just wasn’t to be for the boys, although their effort certainly can’t be faulted.

We dust ourselves off now for a big league game on Thursday night away to Bloomfield as we look to maintain our 100% start to the season.

All the best to Knockbreda in the next round and for the remainder of their season in the new Conference Premier Division.
