Another exciting step forward at Castleford Cricket Club.

From the 2027 season, we’ll be introducing a new Development XI, creating a clear pathway for our junior players to take their first steps into senior cricket.

With demand for cricket in Castleford continuing to grow, we’re proud to be creating more opportunities to play the game and continuing to invest in the future of our club.

This is another step in our long-term ambition to develop our own players and establish Castleford CC as a leading cricket club in Yorkshire.

The club is hosting an open meeting for anyone wishing to learn more about the Development XI.

The final episode of Colson’s Cricket Club! 💙

When I was 11, I fell in love with Castleford Cricket Club.
I’ve always said I want other people to fall in love with the place just like I did. 💙

This summer, over 60 women and girls who’d never really shown an interest in cricket before have picked up a bat and given it a go.

I’ve watched people fall in love with the game of cricket and Cas as a club. A whole new group of people who now call Cas home. That’s what I’m most proud of.

Cricket clubs are nothing without volunteers, and none of this happens without people giving up their time. Andy, Ellie, Luke and Hayden — Thank you for welcoming everyone, sharing your love of the game and getting so many new people excited about cricket.

Thanks to Metro Bank, thank you for supporting us throughout and for being true champions of girls’ cricket… I still can’t quite believe we had the England Women’s head coach checking us out at Savile Park!!! 😮

Finally, thank you to everyone who has watched and engaged with the series. Over 3 million views across the series and counting.

That’s the end of Colson’s Cricket Club for now, but it’s only the beginning for Women’s & Girls cricket at Cas.
And I think 11-year-old me would be pretty chuffed with that. 💙

I love community! 💙

And if there’s one thing I’ve learnt this year, it’s that nothing brings people together quite like sport! (especially cricket) 🏏

So, for our cricket festival, we brought together some of the brilliant people we’ve met along the way…

Hundhill Hall CC who gave our women’s team their first-ever game and Methley CC who showed me just how much can be achieved in the girls game through the incredible work they’re done.

All together for the first ever Castleford Cup 🏆💙

The final weekend of Colson’s Cricket Club. 💙

Back in April, I mentioned at a committee meeting how cool it would be to host a festival of women and girls cricket at Savile Park.

Fast forward five months… we’ve hosted 7 other clubs at our Girls Festival, and now we’re signing off the season with our Women’s Festival. 🤌🏼
