Last week I was training a part of the gym that’s often dominated by men.

A few years ago, that would have made me feel completely out of my comfort zone. I’d worry I didn’t belong there and I’d wonder if people were watching me. I’d probably have stuck to the lighter weights just so I didn’t draw any attention to myself.

I know so many women feel exactly the same when they first start strength training.

Now, I know a big part of my confidence has come from years of consistently lifting weights. Experience does build confidence.

But something else happened last week that I wanted to share... instead of feeling intimidated, I actually felt motivated.

Watching the men around me lifting heavy made me think... “Right then... I’m going to show them I can lift heavy too.” 😏

Not because I needed to prove anything to them (let’s be honest, nobody was paying me any attention, they were all focused on their own workouts!).

But because it reminded me how strong I’ve become. It made me reach for the heavier dumbbells and push a little harder. It reminded me that I know exactly what I’m doing because I’ve put the work in!

So, if the weights area feels intimidating right now, try looking at it differently... Let it motivate you, not stop you 💪

I started my business 9 years ago this month! 🥰 and I really can’t believe it.

A few years before that is where I found a real interest in my own health and fitness. Having never really found a job or industry I felt passionate about after finishing my university degree, I decided to qualify as a Personal Trainer and see if I could make a living out of something I truly felt could make a difference to people’s lives.

Then, in July 2017, I registered as self-employed and felt very lucky to start working with another coach to get experience (thank you Emma Cresswell!😘❤️) alongside my full time job. A few months later I took the leap to leave that job and focus full time on PT so I could give it a real go…

9 years later and I am so happy (and proud of myself to be honest!) to still be here, still making it work and knowing I really have been able to do what I set out to do - and that’s make a positive difference to so many people’s lives, whilst being able to make a living out of something I love doing.

I never have (and never will) take for granted every wonderful client I have had the pleasure of working with, every kind comment on the content I post, every like and share and referral I’ve received - honestly, I could do this without the support of everyone who has come to work with me and who follows / engages with me online too. Thank you thank you thank you for helping me do a job I love 🥰💛

I’m so excited for YEAR 10!🥳💪
