Jungle Rock BTPA Superfarm Tractor Puller

Well l feel l have neglected my Jungle Rock page for too long so here’s an update for my followers.
This is going to be brief as I need to get on with the Tractor. Basically at the end of the 2024 season we had had a very successful time pulling, we ended up second in the super farm championship with the NETC and won puller of the year  with the Scottish club.
I felt we are still quite down on power compared with the best tractors in the BTPA, so during the close season of 24/25 I decided it was time to make some changes under the bonnet, up till now we have been using an air to air intercooler system which worked very well coupled to a Holset HX55 turbo.  I decided it was time to have a charge cooler under the bonnet so I set out to design my own charge cooler and had that made up. I also wanted to step up to an HX 60 turbo, making room under the bonnet for all this extra equipment was quite a challenge and it took a lot longer than I thought.
Sadly, I never managed to get the tractor out for the 2025 season, so after a few more modifications were carried out just prior to the start of the 2026 season off we went to our first pull of the year at Scorton, I knew we had a problem in building boost but the only way to really test the Tractor is a couple it to the sledge, so after a couple of attempts we only managed to move the sledge a short distance, which I believe was good enough to secure fourth place as quite a few other pullers we’re having the same trouble as me.
I made a few adjustments and on Sunday I really did think I was going to get away. The boost was building up towards 60 psi but my EGT‘s were still struggling as I feel we were probably getting too much fuel, never mind we moved the sledge around 10 m and this gave me a bit more confidence that I could probably manage to make things work.
So here we are a week later and back in the workshop to carry out a few more adjustments before our next Pull at Huntley in a couple of weeks time. The first video I will post will be From a 2024 Pull, the second one was from Scorton last Sunday where we nearly got away. The picture is where we are today prior to starting work on the Tractor. 

Sadly, still in the operating theatre and we have missed out on a trip up to Turriff this weekend, there’s a fair bit of upgrades going on, then we won’t know if they will work or not until The Jungle is coupled up to the Sledge.
We suffered a setback last weekend when testing a s/h but new to us intercooler, we discovered it was leaking air into the water jacket. That has put us back greatly, but we will keep at it and hopefully be ready for the pulls in June

Sadly the Jungle Rock isn’t going to make it to Scorton this year, time has run out despite out best efforts. Wee’l keep working hard to try to catch the next pull next weekend at Turrif.

The Jungle is in the operating theatre and l am re designing the air intake system and possibly a new turbo 🤞l can get it done in time for Scorton.

Just a little update from The Jungle Rock garage the tractor has been split the clutch has been inspected and hopefully she’ll be back together this weekend.
Then the pondering will begin to see what we can do to get some more GG’s from the 6/98.

That’s me and The Jungle Rock on our way to the last pull this year at Turiff Aberdeen tonight and tomorrow. We have a couple of modifications on board to see if we can stop the bounce.

Well all l can say is l’m really happy to finish in 4th place in the British Superfarm championship this season,with The Jungle Rock BTPA Superfarm Tractor Puller. The whole cass is very competitive and the ones at the Top are going to take some catching but wee’l be back next season to do battle and try to improve our standing.
It’s been a great time in the background at all these pulls, and the party nights till 5am will the extended family of Tractor Pullers form all over the country, just, Simply The Best.

All set for the final round of the BTPA Jungle Rock BTPA Superfarm Tractor Puller Points pull at Gt Eccelston tonight, pulling starts at 6 pm
