Welcome to Animal Airways! Where will we be flying to today? 🗺️🛩️🐅🐘🦒

Today in Penguins’s we have been on an adventure with Animal Airways, where we took all the different safari animals on holiday all around the globe 🌍! This activity led on from the children’s interest in the story book “Animal Airways”, so the ladies created our own version and had a range of resources including the globe and so many different safari animals too. Throughout we went on our adventure looking at the globe together deciding where we would go and learning about different places on the globe too. We explored the animals and used our imagination when taking them to the beach and in the plane. Some of the children had the great idea to place the animals on top of the plane for them to fly around. We spoke about the holidays we have been on and where we would like to go to as well, using our boarding ticket to the plane.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children develop their imagination, and follow on from an interest too. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout by having a range of different items for the children to use to explore the activity and allow their imagination to run wild too. The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to develop their imagination, creativity and group play too.

All in all the children had a fabulous day exploring Animal Airways and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later. 🥰

Penguin’s 🐧

Den building with Penguin’s! ⛺️

Today in Penguins’s we have been busy building dens using blankets, pillows, tables and our big wooden den, this activity led on from the children’s interest in playing hide and seek. So the ladies gathered all the different resources and we got to work, we were working as a team to help lift and move the blankets and to lay them across and over the table too. The children shared their ideas throughout building on their thoughts and ideas and having even more fun developing their play ideas enhancing their play. The children then got inside the Dens they had created and had so much fun playing peek a boo with their peers and the ladies! This activity was a great way for the children to work as a team and overcome different problems allowing them to problem solve together too.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children develop their play ideas, team work and imagination. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout by having a range of different items for the children to use to make their dens. The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to develop their imagination, team work and creativity too.

All in all the children had a fabulous day Den Building and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later. 🥰

Balloon painting 🎈🎨🖌️

This morning in Penguin’s we have been doing some balloon painting where we had different balloons which we dipped in the paint and began bouncing on the paper creating different marks and patterns. This activity led on from our children’s interest in balloons and painting too. Throughout we spoke about the colours we were making and what we could add to make our patterns better and bigger. We also had lots of fun learning about the colours and developing our colour recognition too.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children to explore something new and develop their colours recognition too. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout by having a range of different items for the children to explore with too. The IMPACT of this activity was to allow the children to get creative and develop their colour recognition.

All in all we have had a fabulous day getting creative and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰

🦉 Owls

🎨 Flower Creations 🌸

Today in Owls, the children explored creativity and art skills through a flower making activity. The ladies set out paint, toilet roll tubes shaped into flower stampers, and cut‑up paper pieces in the shape of petals. The children used the tubes to print flower shapes, then added their own petals, colours and details to build their very own flowers. They were encouraged to talk about their ideas, choose their materials, and experiment with different ways of making their flowers unique.

The intent of this activity was to support children’s creativity, fine motor development, and independence. We wanted them to explore freely, make choices, communicate their ideas, and gain confidence using tools and materials to create artwork.

The ladies implemented this activity by preparing a range of paints, flower‑shaped toilet roll tubes, and paper petals. The children dipped the tubes into paint to stamp flower shapes, then selected petals to place around the centre of the flower, arranging them however they liked. They mixed colours, layered petals, and chatted with each other about what their flowers looked like. Some children even counted how many petals they used or compared the sizes and shapes.

The impact of this activity was seen in the children’s gaining fine motor skills, creative expression, and social communication. They showed independence in choosing materials, curiosity in exploring paint and shapes, and confidence in sharing their artwork with friends. Working together by sharing materials also strengthened their social skills.

Can you find the Dino Treasure? 🦖💎💰

Today in Penguin’s we have been exploring the dinosaurs and helping to find their treasure, this was leading on from the children’s interest in the dinosaur’s. We started off by exploring the letter that Trevor the TREX wrote for us to help us find the treasure, we had so much fun looking for the treasure and making a range of marks in the sand using our fingers, the dinosaur’s feet to leave footprints too. Throughout we spoke about where the dinosaurs could have hidden their treasure too thinking of hiding places. We went on to find the treasure where we looked through and spoke about all the different things hiding inside the treasure bowl too. The children used the dinosaurs to develop and enhance their play also sparking their imagination too.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children to get creative, use their problem solving skills and develop their imagination. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout the activity by encouraging the children to explore the resources they had around them. The IMPACT of this was the children were able to develop their imagination and get creative throughout too.

All in all we have had a fabulous day exploring the dinosaurs treasure, we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰

Owls🦉

🫧Float or Sink🌊

Today in Owls, the children explored early science through a Sinking and Floating activity. We set up a large tray of water and provided a range of different objects for the children to test. They predicted whether each item would sink or float, then placed them in the water to see what happened. The children were encouraged to talk about their ideas, compare results, and notice what made some objects stay on top while others went straight to the bottom.

The intent of this activity was to support children’s curiosity, problem‑solving and early scientific thinking. We wanted them to explore freely, make predictions, communicate their ideas, and build confidence in testing and observing real‑world outcomes.

The ladies implemented this activity by setting up a water tray with a variety of objects — natural materials, small toys, metal items, plastic pieces and more. Children discussed what they thought would happen before placing each object in the water. We encouraged them to talk to each other, compare results, and think about why some objects floated while others sank. We also counted how many items floated, how many sank, and sorted them into groups.

This activities impact was children’s developing understanding of the world, encouraging them to think about cause and effect, test ideas and communicate their findings. They showed growing independence, curiosity and confidence as they explored scientificly through play. The children also strengthened their social skills by sharing predictions, celebrating discoveries and working as a team.
