Tom from our Community Team has been leading the consultation on plans for a new 1.5km traffic-free closed road circuit in Leckwith, creating opportunities for cycling, running, walking, wheeling, and a range of other activities for people of all ages and abilities. Now we want to hear from the
local community.
 
Tomorrow, members of our Community Team will be at Canton Community Centre throughout the day, giving residents the chance to find out more about the proposal, ask questions, and share their thoughts. See details below:

Mae Tom o’n Tîm Cymunedol wedi bod yn arwain yr ymgynghoriad ar gynlluniau ar gyfer cylchffordd gaeedig 1.5km newydd heb draffig yn Lecwydd, gan greu cyfleoedd ar gyfer beicio, rhedeg, cerdded, olwyno, ac amrywiaeth o weithgareddau eraill i bobl o bob oed a gallu. Nawr rydym am glywed gan y gymuned leol.

Splott Albion FC Splott Albion have been operating for 30 years. The club applied to the capital grant in 2025 to improve and expand its facilities and receive funding for new fencing around their pitch.

The investment will help the club continue to provide safe, accessible sessions by improving the quality and security of its facilities, creating a welcoming environment for existing members, and increasing opportunities for local children, young people, and adults to engage in sport and physical activity for years to come ⚽️

Mae Splott Albion FC Splott Albion wedi bod yn gweithredu ers 30 mlynedd. Gwnaeth y clwb gais am y grant cyfalaf yn 2025 i wella ac ehangu ei gyfleusterau a derbyn cyllid ar gyfer ffensys newydd o amgylch eu cae.

Bydd y buddsoddiad yn helpu’r clwb i barhau i ddarparu sesiynau diogel a hygyrch trwy wella ansawdd a diogelwch ei gyfleusterau, creu amgylchedd croesawgar i aelodau presennol, a chynyddu cyfleoedd i blant, pobl ifanc ac oedolion lleol gymryd rhan mewn chwaraeon a gweithgarwch corfforol am flynyddoedd i ddod ⚽️

Last week, our amazing swimming teachers were hard at work supporting the base class from Springwood Primary School. 💙
 
Not only were they helping children build confidence in the water and learn to swim, but most importantly, they were teaching vital life-saving skills.
 
The children learned about the Water Safety Code, how to float to stay alive if they ever find themselves struggling in the water, and how to spot potential dangers. They also explored beach safety, including understanding beach flags and what they mean to help keep them safe when visiting the coast. 🌊🚩
 
To celebrate their fantastic effort, every child received a certificate for their great work and had the chance to take a photo in our RLSS selfie frame 📸 — a fun way to remember such an important experience!
These are essential skills that can make all the difference.
 
We’re incredibly proud to play a part in helping young people stay safe, build confidence, and enjoy the water responsibly. 👏

Yr wythnos diwethaf, roedd ein hathrawon nofio anhygoel yn gweithio’n galed yn cefnogi’r dosbarth sylfaen o Ysgol Gynradd Springwood. 💙
 
Nid yn unig roedden nhw’n helpu plant i feithrin hyder yn y dŵr a dysgu nofio, ond yn bwysicaf oll, roedden nhw’n dysgu sgiliau achub bywyd hanfodol.
 
Dysgodd y plant am y Cod Diogelwch Dŵr, sut i arnofio i aros yn fyw os byddan nhw byth yn cael trafferth yn y dŵr, a sut i weld peryglon posibl. Fe wnaethon nhw hefyd archwilio diogelwch traeth, gan gynnwys deall baneri traeth a’r hyn maen nhw’n ei olygu i helpu i’w cadw’n ddiogel wrth ymweld â’r arfordir. 🌊🚩
 
I ddathlu eu hymdrech wych, derbyniodd pob plentyn dystysgrif am eu gwaith gwych a chawsant gyfle i dynnu llun yn ein ffrâm hunlun RLSS 📸 — ffordd hwyliog o gofio profiad mor bwysig!

🌊 Drowning Prevention Week 🏊‍♂️
 
This week, our School Sport Officer Sam delivered three virtual assemblies to around 300 primary school pupils across Cardiff 👏
 
Through these sessions, young people:
✅ Identified the dangers of being in, on and around water
✅ Learned about the Water Safety Code
✅ Explored how to stay safe while still having fun in the water
 
A huge well done to all the schools who took part and engaged so brilliantly! 💙
