Nutrition gets a lot simpler when you stop asking, “What can I eat?” and start asking “what’s the next best decision I can make?”

Most people overcomplicate fat loss because they think success comes from finding the perfect diet.

In reality, it comes from consistently making good decisions.

That’s why, if I wanted to lose fat this summer, I’d strip everything back to three simple principles.

Not because they’re the only things that matter.

But because they give you the biggest return for the least amount of complexity.

🥩 Protein first

Anchor every meal around a quality source of protein. It helps keep you fuller for longer, supports muscle retention, and makes building a balanced meal much easier.

🥔 Let whole foods do the heavy lifting

You don’t need to eat perfectly.

But when most of your meals come from foods that are close to their natural state, managing hunger becomes much easier and relying on willpower becomes much less necessary.

🍕 Never let one meal become one bad day

One barbecue won’t ruin your progress.

One takeaway won’t ruin your progress.

One ice cream on holiday won’t ruin your progress.

What usually derails people is convincing themselves they’ve “blown it” and waiting until Monday to start again.

Your next meal is always an opportunity to get back on track.

Fat loss isn’t about making perfect decisions.

It’s about making the next good decision, over and over again.

Most people underestimate what they can achieve when they commit to something for years instead of weeks.

This weekend, Karen and Cheranne stood on the start line of the HYROX World Championships in Stockholm.

For Cheranne, the journey started long before this race. Having qualified alongside fellow SOS member Sue, plans had to change when Sue required knee surgery.

Karen stepped in, and together they took on the challenge of competing on the world stage.

What makes this story special isn’t the finish line.

It’s the years that came before it.

Cheranne has been part of the SOS community since 2018. Karen joined in 2021.

Over that time, training stopped being something they did and became part of who they are.

The sessions.
The friendships.
The encouragement.
The coaching.
The support from the people around them.

After crossing the finish line, Cheranne sent us a message saying she couldn’t quite believe what she’d achieved and thanked the coaching team for helping her get there.

Moments like that are a reminder that fitness is about more than reps, sets, and workouts.

It’s about building the confidence to do things you once thought were beyond you.

The result was Stockholm.

The real achievement was years of consistently showing up.
