Why You’re wired, tired and can’t recover.

Its the cumulation effect.

You, as a human, are very adaptable and resilient.
As a species, we have survived thousands of years.

Yet all setbacks are supposed to be short term.
Poor nights sleep.
Stress.
Unexpected bill.

All can be dealt with. But if you don’t have an outlet for releasing the tension and emotion associated with these setbacks...the effects accumulate.

These outlets can be exercise, meditation, taking a walk, journaling.

Whatever you choose, it has to be regular and habitual.

If not, the effects start showing, including regular migraines, high blood pressure, and joint pain, to name a few.

So, if you want to stop being wired, tired, and poorly recovered, Litter your life with stress outlets.

What do you do to recover?

Unpopular opinion. Boring is best when it comes to getting more progress in health & fitness.

Think about it. ALL change is extra energy your brain uses.

It takes less energy for your brain to keep you as you are. Change = energy usage.

As a result, having variety & being sporadic about when you exercise requires even more energy.

Instead make everything simple.
Same or similar meals each day (add variety through what herbs & spices you use).

Exercise on the same days each week if you can.

Go to bed and get up at the same times.

Make a list of 3-4 healthy snacks and only eat those when you get hungry.

Don’t make your brain think about it more than it needs to.

Simple = change
Complex = confusion.

Have you found this to be the case for you, or are you all about the variety?

Worst Foods to Eat for Mental Health

Sugary, processed food.

That 3pm chocolate bar spikes your blood sugar, then crashes it just as fast.

Crashing blood sugar means crashing mood, crashing focus, crashing patience. Your brain runs on glucose, and processed food gives it a rollercoaster instead of a steady supply.

Here’s the thing. The paradox is, these are the EXACT foods people want when in a low mood.

So if you don’t have measures in place for when you are in a low mood…You’ll eat sugary, processed foods.

Two things that actually work:

Eat well when you’re already in a good headspace.

That’s when your decisions are easiest, so use that window to set yourself up (batch cook, prep meals, stock the fridge properly).

Then build a fallback for the low moments.

Have practical, ready-to-go healthy options that need zero thought or effort. When you’re stressed and foggy, you won’t choose the “best” option.

You’ll choose the easiest one. Make sure the easiest one is good for you.

And the boring but brutal truth: keep the processed stuff out of the house. You can’t eat what isn’t there.

What’s your go-to “low mood” food right now?
