🚨MATCH RESULTS - Not Our Day🏏🚨
🏏1st Xl - Outplayed throughout.
-Again winning the toss and bowling first, we hoped the fresh pitch and fresh bowlers would cause issues but unfortunately not, we did start off with 2 quick ish wickets but strong partnerships and aggressive batting saw the opposition fly ahead.
-We did see some back and wickets by S.ROBERTS (4) & T.AFRIDI (2) but at that stage the opposition already going at 6 an over.
-With over 320+ to chase, we lost 2 early wickets but fought back with D.GROSSETT wacking few (who only played due to late injury to B.HOLE in pre game) and M.SCHONKEN helping out too.
-The boys then saw some cheap wickets fall and some good quality fast bowling put an end to any chase hopes.
-One to forget and move on ready for a big game next weekend.
🏏2nd Xl - A tough outing to say the least
-batting first saw the boys get off to good start with S.HOOD setting the tone , but consistent wickets throughout halted any potential large score. D.DABSON the pick of the batsman with a half century.
-Only making 139, the team had a large defence on their hands but early partnerships from the opposition made life difficult.
-A big push from all bowlers saw us take 2 wickets but not enough to get the win.
-We go again next week!

🚨MATCH RESULTS - A Great Weekend of Cricket🏏🚨
🏏The MCC - An incredible day and game of cricket which saw the old guard of previous years mix in with the youthful turkeys juniors, to enjoy the sunny conditions and out the whites back on for the first time in years!
-Some rusty bowlers and some rusty batting saw the MCC win the game.
-Highlights include WILCOX taking a wicket with his second ball after 18 months of not playing, BARRATT getting through 2 overs without injury, and MILLS back on the field after his shoulder operation!
🏏1st Xl - Righted the wrongs of last week!
-Losing the toss and being elected to bowl on a hot flat pitch was always going to be a tough ask, but some great fielding and bowling saw the opposition reduced to 21/3 in the first 10 overs. The opposition then batted beautifully and took full advantage of the good deck and put on nearly 100 for the 3 wickets partnership. -They continued to score runs and made life very difficult, but some brilliant bowling from AFRIDI & SCHONKEN put the breaks on there charge taking the opposition from 170/6 to 180 all out!
-The chase started off well with the openers putting the pressure back onto the opposition, then SCHONKEN & ROBERTS setting a platform. -A slight wobble in the middle put some pressure on the lower order, but then young Ollie “Ice Cold” BEVERIDGE steadied the ship and saw us over the line, with help from GROSSETT & AFRIDI!
-A hard fought chase but full deserved from the bowling effort!
🏏2nd Xl - Brilliant fightback but to many in the end.
-Bowling first, the opposition got off to a flyer with the openers putting on 130 for the 1st wicket.
-One did bring two with DABSON was on a hat trick, but then the opposition hit back with more partnerships throughout. Was a tough first innings but a lot of runs available as the opposition hit over 300.
-The chase then saw some aggressive batting as a number of players struck at over 100 strike rate with 4 players getting 30 or more!
-Unfortunately falling 45 short but still with 4 overs to go, which may have seen them chase the total with more wickets available.

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us for the Stephen Rees Memorial Game against Port Talbot Town CC.
With over 45 of Stephen’s family and friends in attendance, alongside a packed-out pavilion supporting both sides, the atmosphere was a fitting tribute to a true club stalwart, enthusiastic volunteer, and beloved junior coach.
It was an absolute thriller of a game that went right down to the wire, but we are pleased to report that Pentyrch bounced back to claim a brilliant victory.
The attack had to work incredibly hard against a superb innings from Port Talbot's wicket-keeper, Sami Khan, who anchored his side with a brilliant 95 runs off 115 balls.
Chasing 181, Pentyrch had to dig deep. Roberts anchored the top order with a gritty 36 (75 balls). The defining stand came later, with Ollie “ice cold” Beveridge finishing an unbeaten, heroically composed 34* (73 balls) alongside crucial contributions from Schonken (24) and Tariq Faqir Afridi (21). It was Grossett who stepped up under immense pressure, sealing a spectacular 3-wicket win in the 48th over.
Thank you to Port Talbot CC for an excellent game played in the best spirit of the sport, and to all our volunteers and hospitality staff for their valuable contribution.

The weather turned out perfectly with glorious sunshine and a welcome breeze, bringing a brilliant crowd to for today’s invitational match against the MCC. It was a day of absolute quality cricket, all played in the best of spirits. While Pentyrch ultimately lost by 68 runs, there were plenty of reasons to celebrate both on and off the field:
🏏Permanent Class: Former club captain Todd Wilcox visiting from Australia struck with his second delivery, bagging a key MCC wicket. All the more impressive given that he hadn’t played in over a year!
🏏On the pitch: Brett put on a brilliant performance, smashing a superb 58 runs!
🏏Club Appreciation: John Moore presented the departing Sam Ewen with a well-deserved tankard as a token of the club's appreciation.
🏏Clubhouse History: Jamie Mills presented John with an official MCC cap, which will now proudly hang on the clubhouse wall.
It was an incredibly enjoyable day seeing so many old and new faces come together. A massive thank you to everyone who came out to support our returning legends (G. McKain, S. Ewen, G. Barratt, and T. Wilcox), to our army of volunteers, and to J. Mills for leading a fantastic opposition.
