🚨MATCH RESULTS - The 2s Survive! 🏏🚨

🏏1st Xl - No possible play as game called off due to rain.

🏏2nd Xl - Unbelievable WIN which sees the 2s survive relegation on the final day of the season!🦃
-With potential heavy rain around overnight and during the day, the ground staff and players worked tirelessly to get a game on to give them the chance of survival.
-A break in the weather meant the boys were put into bat in a 25 over game. With the side above them now confirmed at 9 points ahead, the team were required to match that or get both 5 batting and 5 bowling bonus points.
-Batting first meant 150 runs to get. We then saw some steady and strong batting from G.GIBBS & C.HEALY to set the tone but a huge innings from both D.GROSSETT (61) & G.ASHBY (36) propelled the team passed the required 5 bonus points!
-In the second innings the team required 5 wickets to get the further 5 bonus points, which with some brilliant bowling from G.ASHBY , D.TALLIS & S.HOOD saw the boys take the 5 wickets needed to survive, but with victory possible they then set their sights on an outright win!
-With the final overs played out, the boys won the game comfortably and earned the right to stay in Div 4, after a season of very difficult player availability that affected the side massively throughout the summer!
-A huge win in the context of the league season but also a huge win for the club to keep allowing our young Turkeys to play at the highest available standard! With a number of young Turkey debuts this year we look forward to seeing them only grow in confidence and ability next season!

🚨TEAM NEWS - The Great Escape? 🏏🦃🚨

🏏1st Xl - To finish the 1st Xl are AWAY to Port Talbot CC.
-After last week’s brilliant win, we look to get ourselves a top 3 finish! We do go into tomorrow with a lot of changes to the side due to availability and injuries.
-Changes to the side as H.JOHN, J.WATKINS & O.DAVIES join the side. We then hopefully see 3 leagues debuts for some Turkey juniors including the first ever ladies player to play league cricket for the 1st Xl in A.WILLIAMS, while G.JOHN & O.JAQUES also make debuts, Best of luck to the three of them!

🏏2nd Xl - The 2nd Xl are at HOME against Cardiff CC 3rd Xl in a huge game to decide their fate.
-In simple terms a win is required to hopefully keep the team in Div 4 after a hard fought season.
-Changes to the side include D.DABSON, H.WILLIAMS, C.HEALY, D.GROSSET & C.PHILLIPS all into the team!

🚨MATCH RESULTS -Two brilliant Chases!🏏🚨

🏏1st Xl - Last game at Turkey Towers for 2026 and signed off with a huge win!
-Winning the toss bowling, we understood we hoped to have the better of the conditions but knew we had to start well!
-The opening bowlers hit their lines and kept things tight, with T.AFRIDI making the breakthrough with 2 quick wickets in the middle and some good bowling at the end kept the opposition to a good but below par score.
-After losing an early wicket in the chase O.BEVERIDGE helped steady the ship coming in at 3, the ever present C.BROWN carried his bat through the innings making 89, while we saw B.HOLE & A.BUKHARI counter attack and completely take the game away from the opposition.
-A brilliant team performance to give the home crowd a great send off for the 1st Xl season at Turkey Towers.

🏏2nd Xl - Unreal chase from youngster G.GIBBS to get a huge win!
-Bowling first at Abergavenny was always going to be tough, a high scoring ground again saw runs, but with some great fight back from our bowlers!
-S.HOOD & G.ASHBY picked up the bulk of wickets, with wickets then shared around the bowlers.
-The chase then set off brilliantly with S.HOOD falling just short of a half century at a run a ball, and his partner G.GIBBS also putting on a show who then carried his bat throughout the innings and scoring an incredible 123 runs off 110 balls to get the team over the line 💯!
-A must win game which saw an incredible innings from a Turkey Youngster!

🚨TEAM NEWS - Finish Strong! 🏏🦃🚨

🏏1st Xl - This week the 1st Xl are again at HOME against Maesteg CC.
-Having secured Prem 2 cricket next year after last week’s win, we look to keep the momentum and push for the top 2.
-Changes to the side as skipper M.GROSSETT returns and B.HOLE & D.GROSSETT come into the Xl.

🏏2nd Xl - The 2nd Xl are AWAY against Abergavenny CC 2nd Xl.
-Looking to get a much needed win to help get out the bottom we see father son duos of G.GIBBS & T.GIBBS and G.JOHN & H.JOHN come into the side, and R.GRANT & R.MALIN make up the remaining changes.

🚨MATCH RESULTS - Must Win Chase!🏏🚨

🏏1st Xl -A great chase which secures Prem 2 cricket for 2027!
-Losing the toss and being asked to bowl on a dry pitch, we understand early wickets would be crucial, But the opposition got off to a good start.
-The wickets started to fall with T.AFRIDI doing the damage and taking the first 3 wickets! We then saw the rest of the bowlers chip in reduce the opposition to a par 235.
-Starting off with the bat, the openers set out the stall with another good opening partnership of over 100, a couple wickets fell at poor times but each batsman come in and took on the conditions and built partnerships.
-With G.GIBBS counter attacking with great 31 and C.HEALY finishing the game off!
-A good team performance which puts the side out of any danger.

🏏2nd Xl - Took the game deep but not quite enough.
-Batting first, the openers started well but some quick wickets in the middle over put pressure on the scoreboard.
-Another half century for D.DABSON and some great back end hitting from the skipper G.ASHBY saw the side over 200!
-The bowlers then kept the bowling tight but wickets hard to come by. They took the game deep but again unable to keep the opposition from getting over the line.
-Tough game but good to see G.WALTERS in the wickets on debut.

🚨MATCH RESULTS - Difficult Day🏏🚨

🏏1st Xl -A brilliant first half turned into nightmare second half.
-Winning the toss and batting, we hoped to kick on from last week and produce another quality innings, which we did!
-A good start from C.BROWN helps push the score along, then B.HOLE & A.BUKHARI met in the middle and proceeded to go to work!
-A incredible 159 run partnership where A.BUKHARI smashed 82 and B.HOLE finished the innings with a brilliant 💯!
-With a seriously competitive score on the board, the opening bowlers took 3 massive wickets of the oppositions highest scorers this season, but some brilliant batting from their 4 & 5 was enough to see them over the line.
-Seeming out played and not enough in the tank for the second half.

🏏2nd Xl - Hard fought but not quite enough.
-Bowling first, the opposition took advantage of the dry conditions and built partnerships throughout the innings.
-Young Turkey W.HEDD-EVANS taking 3 wickets with his brilliant leg spin!
-Batting saw early wickets from some good bowling. Unable to recover the lads fought hard throughout to get as many points as possible!
-Difficult day but one that saw some promise from the youngsters involved.

🏏1st Xl - This week the 1st Xl are AWAY to Ynysygerwen CC.
-The reverse fixture is one of the only games called off due to rain!
-Changes to the side as O.DAVIES & D.NAVID back into the Xl.

🏏2nd Xl - The 2nd Xl are at HOME against Whitchurch - Heath 2nd XI.
-A big game where a win for the 2nd XI would be massive!
-The side sees changes as R.OSBORNE, C.HAMMETT, H.WILLIAMS Snr join the side.

🚨MATCH RESULTS - Must Needed Win🏏🚨

🏏1st Xl - Done what was needed.
-Losing the toss and being out into bat on a fresh dry pitch, saw tough conditions against the new ball. Abit of uneven bounce and swing made the first 20 overs very difficult to freely score.
-But as the scorecard suggests, once you got in you can score big! C.BROWN& A.BUKHARI proceed to put on an 180 run partnership for the 3 wicket, with BROWN scoring a brilliant 💯 and BUKHARI ending the innings just short 7 runs of 3 figures!
-With the ball the openers put on the pressure and broke through the top order, BUKHARI doing the damage. SCHONKEN then followed up with a brilliant spell putting the game to bed.
-A massive must win game which out the side back into the top 4.

🏏2nd Xl - Onto the next one!
-Batting first the openers again got off to a great start but wickets through the middle again put pressure on the batting side. DABSON again the stand out with the bat making 50 again.
-An early wicket of the opposition danger man give hope, but again partnerships throughout the innings and powerful striking brought an end the game.
-Hard lines against a good opposition, hoping for a couple results in the run!
